Forums - Sony Discussion - Monster Hunter World: 3rd Beta (LIVE NOW)

I have one big problem and im sure this is in other monster hunter games and that the time! it gives you 20 mins to do the mission. Playing the second hunt and I nearly had the monster killed and I ran out of time now thats annoying.
I like to play at my own pace, set traps, collect items clues, kill other things and explore the area you cant do all those things and kill the monster on top of all that. This was going to be my first monster hunter but having time constrains kill all hype for me.

In previous games it was normally 50 minutes I don't know why they made it 20 I'm pretty sure in the final game it will be 50 minutes.

Just done two hunts with my girlfriend, it's her first time playing a Monster Hunter game ever...

The Jagras was easy enough to kill between the two of us, along the way it decided to eat an enemy, run back to its nest to sleep, then get its baby things to ambush us lol.

Tried the second one, the Barroth, but it's armoured to fuck, we attempted it three times (One time it disconnected me so put us both into separate singleplayer) and only on the last attempt did we even get it to start limping away before we ran out of time. Not tried the third one.

One thing I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATE WITH A PASSION in this game, is getting your friend into a party with you... you can't just go into a menu and click "Invite friend" or whatever, no, it gives you some stupid password you have to type to them and they have to type it in to find your match! What the actual fuck Capcom? It's annoying as fuck!

The password is to stop randoms just joining your party it feels tedious at first but trust me it stops more hassle than it creates but you are right that an invite system should be implemented.

I think they implemented free roaming in the upcoming MH, if I remember correctly, you should be able to explore the place after completing a mission, you should be able to choose to go back to town or to the base camp in the area.

Beta time is 20 minutes not real missions. Real missions go from 50 minutes. There are missions that dont have time which is basically exploration where big monsters also appear. You're really not suppose to collect items and hunt a specific monster in one quest. There's hunting missions and gathering missions. Gathering missions are for exploring and gathering while hunting is hunting whichever monster u want to hunt.

So far I like what I've seen. Played the first two missions with a friend, though had to round up a team in order to finish the third mission in the time limit. The gameplay feels a lot more slick, animations aren't nearly as long as the older games, and the monsters look amazing.

Only gripe I had was that, while it was hard finishing missions in the time limit with a limited group, I never really got close to dying. Had a couple times where I screwed something up (used a whetstone when I wanted to put my mantle on), and it almost felt like the monster just waited for me to get back to the fight. I don't remember the older games being so forgiving. Maybe it's just a coincidence, or the beta isn't trying to be that difficult.

Overall, it really feels like a nicer looking version of classic Monster Hunter. Definitely excited for the full game.

It's weird because I've managed to kill all three monsters solo with the time limit, 7, 11, and 14 minutes respectively... all using the hammer lol (Despite it not being the best weapon for the Anjanath, I just enjoy the playstyle), yet when I played with my girlfriend we tried three times to kill the Barroth and just didn't have enough time... maybe it's because we had different weapon combinations at the time though, who knows, lol.

Wow....crazy @_@ I wonder if they buff the monster for multiplayer...we failed to kill the Anjanath three times before we opened our group up, and it still took over 12 minutes with everyone going wild. Might have to try out some solo tomorrow if I'm craving more monster hunting.

The game does feel more forgiving, and due to that, easier, than past entries, and I only really came close to dying once, in my solo hunt against the Anjanath, but my Palico came in to save me with health anyway, and that's because I played a little over aggressively in the midfight.

However, I feel like the beta is easy specifically as an introduction to Monster Hunter for newcomers, since there are people playing it who have no experience with the series, so maybe they're doing it to ease them in, get them used to the gameplay etc. and still let them feel accomplished after killing enemies, before moving onto the full game and realising enemies can be much harder... it's very beginner friendly, but the gameplay is still there for regulars.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I think most of my worries about the game being dumbed down have been addressed. It still plays very much like Monster Hunter, just with some refinements. The green scout flies make tracking and gathering a lot easier, but my impression right now is that it's not dumbing it down as much as removing some tedious elements from the game. I swear, of my 200+ hours of the previous games, I'm sure about 50 hours alone are just watching stupid carving or gathering animations.

Also...man I love these seamless maps. It really feels open finally!

This game looks amazing. Shame its not on the Switch.

Any confirmation on a PC release or is this only X1 and PS4?

The Beta have not impressed me at all.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

It will release for PC later on.

And yeah, it's really a shame that it's not on Switch.

Always wanted to try a monster hunter game when I heard about them but always felt they wouldn''t really be my type of game. After playing the Beta it was gorgeous but I can tell I would not be into this. Just going around hunting monsters? That's not really all that great to me.

Do these games have any sort of story to them?I assume no? Either way for people who are into these games it's going to be amazing. Couldn't believe how good it looked.
