Who wins is just a small squabble. I'm interested in real numbers.

Yup... me too.

But we can't deny that who wins is what has made this thread one of the biggest NPD threads so far on this forum.

So maybe its not as small a squabble as you may think.

Nah, it's just that squabbles most of the time get people more enganged than a better understanding of the development of the video game market.

It still has some ways to go before beating the November 2014 NPD thread (which holds the record at 1,288 posts) but it's getting there!

Is that when Xbox One won the month?

Ah yes, I remember that month. The Xbox One winning by quite a fair margin probably contributed to that.

Reason for sale, reason for the success of PS4. And why would someone decide to buy PS4 in 2017 because of Fifa 18 that prevented the person from buying it on all the previous years? That is the point about it being yearly

Thats like asking why would somebody buy a 3DS in 2016 for Pokemon Sun/Moon when they could have in 2013-2014 when previous titles released.

Or why would somebody buy a PS2 in 2004 when San Andreas released when they could have in 2001/2002 when GTA3 or Vice City released.

Or why would somebody but an NES for Super Mario Bros 3 in 1990 when they could have in 1985-88 when the first 2 released.

Are we going to start questioning whether Sun/Moon, San Andreas or Super Mario 3 were system sellers?

GTA has big gaps in releases. If someone 1 million bought a PS4 for FIFA 17, those 1 million people aren't going to be buying a PS4 for FIFA 18. Plus, we just have to look at sales of other games to see that it's not just CoD and FIFA that sells.

GTA on PS2 didnt have big gaps in releases, hence why i used those as my examples and not GTAIV or GTAV.

Sure if 1 million people bought a PS4 for FIFA 17, they arent going to buy a PS4 again for FIFA 18, that is obvious. That however doesnt mean 1 million different people wont buy a PS4 for FIFA 18.

I never once said its just CoD & FIFA that sells so thats a useless statement.

How about we just agree on my initial point, which was that COD & FIFA are some of the biggest system selling franchises for PS consoles over the last decade.

Imagine the meltdowns if it turns out Xbox won lol.

Well, they'll be able to say they won from a revenue standpoint, I bet, considering the X will have sold a fair amount at $499. In terms of unit sales, the NPD guy already said that it's PS4 - XBO - Switch.

Congrats to the PS4. It's pretty scary that a $199 price pretty much wiped stock in the US for those 10 days. There is no possible way that Sony could sustain stock worldwide with a price like that in the short run. They would have to raise production and shipment goals next year by a couple million.

That is why i think they wont be winning december.

With a 199$ deal again, they could easily take the month, but the stock just isn't there to support such deal.

Lets see...maybe they have another huge shipment for this month, but i really don't think so!
