The french  swedish dude of the game A way out was a complete moron. Why there is always a fucking moron in the game awards ?

He's my new hero...he was so refreshingly passionate and just real, without caring too much about etiquette. I LOVE this guy! "Fuck the Oscars!" lol

Seems like some pretty reasonable choices for once. Not sure about Mario + Rabbids beating Total War, but judging by Metacritic, it's hard to argue too much.

The real winner here is Hellblade, which got a whopping four awards plus the best performance award. That's really good for a relatively unknown game from what I'm assuming to be a relatively small studio (at least on today's standards).

Agreed...especially since it tackled a very bold thematic and was independently developed! Hats off to them!

I honestly didn't expect Zelda to take best Direction, honestly I think Horizon should have got that. Glad it got GOTY though, truthfully it deserves it.

Based on what? Direction in games is not the same as direction in movies, this is not about the story or anything like that, one of the reason BoTW is one of the best games ever is the direction of Aonuma so I think is a well deserved one.

I would've been happy with any game besides PUBG winning GOTY. In my jaded mind after the Grammys these past 2 years, I was sadly expecting it to win due to its popularity. I was shocked that it didn't happen. I guess being unfinished stopped it just short of winning it all.

Anyways, wow, this was just an amazing year for games in general. For a lot of these categories, I would've been happy with a lot of the choices winning, and it was more choosing which one I didn't want to take it. So glad Hellblade, Cuphead, and Zelda won big, though.

All out carnage has broken out on some social media groups as people are trolling HZD fans hard.

I don't get this, awards don't change game experience. Horizon is one of the best games I've played this generation, but this year was insane competition wise.  Persona 5, Nier, Nioh, and of course Zelda were all tough games to go up against.  I mean Half Life and Metal Gear Solid came up short to Ocarina of Time in 1998 in many game awards, doesn't change how great or important they are.

Damn, I also felt bad for horizon not getting anything lol. Seems like it was a jack of all trades, but Master of none lol. Awesome game nonetheless.

Not a Zelda fan myself, but I am not surprised that it won game of the year after all the stuff I saw from it when watching my brother play it and all the other stuff surrounding it.

A lot of people like to complain that their favorites didn't win, but these awards did good in spotlighting some of the less popular games like hellbound which I had never seen before(please don't kill me) . Seems interesting. As well as now I'm really feeling like buying Persona 5 after almost winning game of the year I have to check it out. I know I'm late to the party, but better late then never.

Edit: The guy promoting A way out was awesome. He wasn't some fake pr person. Genuine passionate dude who was probably drunk lol.

Also best part of the show, goes to the Shazam actor's microtransaction joke lol.

Based on the great plot, great art direction, great soundtrack, great characters and great performance of the voice actors, great combat, it pushed the graphics like no other considering it had a open world and it had a great performance there was no dips in framerate on this one, it was fun and exciting game.

I don't deny that, but Zelda was still the better game and that has a lot to do with Aonuma, the director, which transformed the most prestigious franchise ever into something radically different from the last 20 years and it worked spectacularly well.

GT Sport eyyy

Also anticipated game award is bs. Why is that even a thing?

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

The OP is wrong. Forza 7 apparently won that award, not GT Sport.

At least hat is what other posters are saying. The award show was a bit annoying that half the awards were just given out in sentences like 2 seconds before a commercial break or after. Lots of times I missed them. So I didn't hear who won, but reading this topic it seems Forza 7 won that category not GT Sport.

Lol yeah, That Jason guy was brilliant, together with the micro-transactions puns and the Bethesda single player content video...very entertaining, really!
