Not enough misleading marketing/flat out lies for a NMS comparison to work :)

Rare updated their site last week with tons of info on the game. Reputation, Renown, Trading Companies, etc. Check it out.

Am i to blame for Microsoft and Rare poor marketing?

Who is going to visit Rare's website to know what is the game about? They must have a hundred visits per month on their site.

Im basing my judgement of the game from what Microsoft have shown at their events, which is basically a bunch of nothingness.

Some guys fighting on a ship and doing random stuff in the land.

You seem to have never played an MMO before, that's the problem. MMOs aren't just about Hack and slashing Action QTE style games, its about organisation and communication, so basically there pretty much like RPG Simulators. SoTs doesn't sound like its for you. There extremely hard to be successful and unless your in groups and have good social skills and manners you will go places in these types of games. Iv been playing WoW for 13 years and iv seen a lot and played a lot of other MMOs as well. SoTs appeals to me however its not for everyone. These games you could spend 1000s of hours in, no joke my WoW toon reads over 12,000 hours on 1 character and my EvE Online account reads over 320+. There monster games of investments.

Sea Of Thieves is also a Youtubers / Twitch dream game.

Also the game has been marketed and advertised exactly what its meant to be.

Does SoT has a Quest?

WoW has hundreds if not thousands of quests, that is what keeps the game interesting imo.

If SoT is just a sandbox game with no quests, the lifespan of the game will be short as Danny de Vito.

Its been confirmed to have Quests. Just like other MMOs.

It also has a Title system, Ship and Player customisations, Social bars, a Brig system where you can lock up other players for disciplinary actions, Above and below water system, 1 man ships, World bosses like a Kraken, Island forts, Rare Easter Eggs and more.

Anyway I am not here to sell you this game because I doubt you have an Xbox or Windows 10 for that matter.

All I am saying is as a long term MMO player and old school Rare fan, SoTs has my interests and its a day one purchase for me. Iv seen many streams of pro gamers and novice gamers fall in love with the Alpha so that is a good sign. Good on MS and Rare for taking risks.

I don't expect this game to do very well, which is a shame because there's a severe lack of pirate games.

I'm really curious..game looks fun with the right people. The ability of people to group themselves together will be the key if the game becomes a huge success, or a sad fail, after a short amount of time.
I'm hoping for success though, even though Im not sure I‘ll ever play it on PC.. unless they put it on Steam at least. But even if I don’t, just watching streams of people playing it could be fun.

I like the game, it’s a unique effort. It’s not a stupid shooter and it’s not bought, fake exclusivity. And I love Pirates.

If you join their preview program on the SoT website you're guaranteed a chance to play it later this month .

I'm having a hard time envisioning this game as a hit. It might perform decently on Xbox but competition on PC for games of this type is fierce.

Exactly what game on the PC right now allows you to sail the Seas as a Pirate and group up with your mates.  I actually believe this game has a much better chance on the PC then on the console.  PC gamers are always looking for something more diverse instead of your bog standard shooter or fantasy MMO.  If Rare nail the fun, it will get decent sales.

This game might be like Rainbow six seige where it starts out okay and ends up being huge with word of mouth.
