It wouldn't do your point any harm if you could at least get the console names right.

I'm not sure you're talking to "Wii U fans" but most of us here I think are Nintendo fans and as such I'm sure a good few enjoyed that console. Regardless, it's quite clear you have no idea what you're talking about anyway - how the hell does a system with 2 of the highest rated games of all time (both exclusives) in only its opening half year has "no library"? It has a lot more at this point than the 3DS did in its first holiday season, with loads of exclusives and appealing system-sellers and a very healthy third-party ecosystem with even a few AAA games here and there. It has sold faster than the Wii, DS or 3DS had up to this point (despite huge shipment issues), has a lot of hype surrounding it, an effective and appealing marketing campaign, and is yet to see its first holiday season.

13 million by March doesn't feel like a hopeful bet, it feels all but guaranteed at this point, and from then on it can only keep growing as all systems do in the years after launch - never mind the Switch with the inevitable mainline Pokémon game which is probably coming in 2019 and will obviously be absolutely huge. Your "if blank-game is released" point doesn't make sense, because at this point we truly don't know much about which games are coming to the Switch in 2018, and that isn't because there are no games, but rather because Nintendo wants to announce them closer to release just as they did with this year's January presentation.

...I'm not sure why I'm writing this much, though. It's clear you can't do common sense.

Yeah I still see it as a wii ..sorry.

But come on..really...Two of the best games ever rated...that a stretch..Breath of wild is pretty good. And that about it for its library market.

3ds had backward compatibility. So no....still cant compare.

My point on the insert black game name was simply stating that everyone is wishing for specific games that haven't even been announced or even hinted at.  I feel that if nintendo is going all in on the switch..(which is odd that that nintendo 3ds is still selling pretty darn good.) they should really start announcing some bigger titles. And I'm if what you consider a big title isn't what the market considers a big title.

Wii U even hit 530k in one week in December.  You think Switch will peak at 400k?

Wii U did 1.5 million in its first December.  Switch at 2 million in all of December is a low ball figure.

How many of those 1.5 million were just Nintendo early adopters though? Presumably, these sorts of folks already bought in March.

Not saying you're wrong, just wondering how that factors in. Maybe the 3DS's first December would be a better comp.

It's not a stretch though, it's reality;

According the site we are on...I'm seeing 8.2 million by the beginning of November. That's a solid number from this site which does a pretty good job even though it seems slow....so now let see...250k sales worldwide for the first week of November. lets say that it stays that steady with maybe a jump before christmas and during black friday....maybe 300k a week maybe peak 400k.. but 2 million for december....i'm not seeing it. Maybe 2 million to the end of the year...but after that i would expect to see sales drop off a little to maybe around xbox 1 levels.

What are you guys end of year prediction for Wii switch? 12 ...14 million end of year?...
i'm thinking maybe 10 11...and then a drastic decrease after that until a new killer game is release.
it will be interesting to see what Vgchartz hardware sales charts look like a week before xmas...if its even updated by then.

The Wii did amazing, so the Wii Switch should do even better

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

It is funny to see people continue to insist that Nintendo needs Call of Duty and Madden to succeed.

CoD, Battlefield, Battlefront, Madden, Fifa, 2K, GTA... none of these were important to the success of the Wii, the DS, or the 3DS.

That would be 1.63 million....in one week.   Well over 5 million for the month.

Goodness!

I truly wonder sometimes if people really believe their own words or they want their words to be true so bad that they start to believe them.

I kinda agree with you, it does not have strong 3rd party support, Nintendo hasn't really hit the casual gamer market as yet. Say what you want about shooters but they are the reason many consoles are bought, not for the exclusives, not for the power, it really is for the casual gamer who plays sports games, GTA online, the yearly FPS and the occasional open world RPG and that's the demographic for consoles really.

Another thing about the Switch that I don't like is the social experience, it downright sucks. The Xbox social hub is great and looks like a Facebook or Instagram of game clips and club invites but the switch is wow it is disastrous, there is no feeling of community or social interactivity in any way, that app thing is bullshit, impractical and counter-intuitive.

I know you all probably have heard of it a million times at this point, but the Switch has zero power, AAA developers and games are continually pushing boundaries in visuals, AI, bigger open worlds and the switch doesn't stand up to the task in any way.

Most gamers love amazing graphics, it's flashy, eye-popping and it's so much easier to market because it looks fricking amazing. It is a very important criterion for many gamers (especially casuals) when buying games. Sure people like Uncharted 4 for its story and gameplay but it's undeniable that people love it for the graphics too. Witcher 3, FH3, Battlefield 1 sell well not only because they are good games but also because they are visually stunning. (worked extremely well in favor of Witcher 3 since they weren't well known or triple A).

The Switch will probably never have games of that visual caliber and it's 2017 where those visuals are getting more and more accessible even for something like the Xbox One (the weaker mainline console).

So yeah, while Zelda is fricking amazing (didn't play SMO because not really into platformers), the Switch will not have legs beyond 2018 in my opinion especially when it's against the likes of RDR 2, Anthem, Battlefield 2018, Cod 2018, God of War, Spiderman, Days Gone, Metro, GTA online, Rainbow Six Siege and probably a few more.

In half of this site, everything that isn't praise to Nintendo is taken as a troll. Give it a rest. People are entitled to their opinions and it IS interesting to talk about it rather than shut it down.

man  get out here with that nonsense  i'd think it was a stealth troll if someone said  it about any other console. don't mistake me for one of them idiot fanboys just because i find topics like this thread stupid.  I'd say more but would likely be banned

Nonsense that people are entitled to their own opinion?

Trolling from an established account?

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I have news for you. You aren't impartial.

Okay, so it's 8.2 at the beginning of November. NPD has it at 770k in November in the US alone. That means it should be around 2 million for November worldwide. December is definitely bigger than November.

2 million is not that crazy much, the 3DS did over 4 million in its first December.
