Sonic Mania is a no go.  I own it on PS4....  However.. portability on Switch....  We'll have to wait and see, because I honestly don't play games much while mobile.  I didn't get it on PC, because it came out on PS4 first, and I had no Switch at the time, obviously.

I'm not getting Arms, nor rabids.  Rabids are extremely obnoxious characters, and I dislike them for that reason.  I couldn't play that game comfortably.  I'll consider mario kart 8 and mario maker, however, i've not been impressed enough to buy mario odyssey.

However.  I've bought these following things after getting a switch. Pupo Puyo Tetris, 128 GB SD mini, Screen protector, 3D printed joycon gamepad grip for - and +. Indivual 2P gamepad grips, and a dock sock, with the triforce on it, cause why not?

I don't want to have the console scratched up, and I dont wanna pay 60 bucks for a controller.  I could have gotten it for 45 dollars at the time i bought the switch if I really wanted,  but not going to cry over that now.  At least I did get the console for super cheap already, and the deal was of course, like I said, a one time thing.  But, I'm not going to make a big fuss over 15 bucks either, so if I feel like I need one at some point, I will get it.  But, I'm finding myself to be comfortable just holding the joycons detached in each hand, regardless of the game.

oh, that part!.. yeah... lets just say i like it :D a lot..

Definitely give BotW a try, is really good

Xenoblade 2 and Splatoon 2 should be other good options

I apologize if I was a little aggressive, I jut thouhght your op was worded weirdly. You just seem dismissive of some of the best games and I think it's smart to research a console before you buy it to make sure you will be able to get the kind of games you like on it. Of course you're allowed to own a Nintendo like anybody else I was just suggesting in a bad way that based on your op the switch might not be for you, but you seem invested in it now so fair enough.

so basically you want only 1st party only that's not mario: Zelda, pokken dx, zenoblade 2 and splatoon 2 should keep you busy for several months. If you can only get one , then Zelda absolutely. There are also lots of interesting indies, but do your research before buying please :)

Your thoughts on the Switch are actually very reasonable, rather than anti-Nintendo. Many people would agree with you, even Nintendo fans I feel.

As for games, I would consider BotW and Mario Odyssey, even if you're not really interested. I've found it to be very fun personally, and one of the highlights of the system. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks good, and if you like JRPGs, it may be something you like. If you like shooters, you may enjoy Splatoon 2, though it is rather unique for a shooter, so it may be worth trying out.

And as for Puyo Tetris, I have the game too, so if you'd like to try some online MP, I'd be down for that.

Do you have a comprehension problem? I dont know how you got to where you are here. Did you mean to qoute me? Just in case you did; I am not chastising him because of what he does/doesnt like, but because he wants us to recommend him games as he closes the door on a nice chunk of avenues. If you are not going to be open to recommendations that you are requesting due to whatever stipulations you have up then you are better off doing your own research.  

Anything I would suggest might have been said earlier but I will try to summarize.

3D Platformer: Mario
2D: Sonic Mania
Warriors esque game: Fire Emblem Warriors, Attack on Titan 2 in 2018
JRPG: Xenoblade Chronicles 2, also I suggest Disgaea 5 if you haven't played it for PS4 yet, Atelier coming in March, DQXI in 2018
Racing: Mario Kart
Fighting: Pokken and Arms, Blazblue in 2018
Strategy: Romance of the three kingoms XIII and Nobunaga's Ambition seems to be JP only, but you can get for other consoles
Shooter: Splatoon 2

And many small games if that's your thing.
