Hold your horses, Buddy Boy.  My OP states "X owners." So I originally thought this was in reference to the Xbox One X specifically.  When I realized my mistake shortly afterwards, I just left the issue alone since it wasn't what the OP meant.  But what the OP presented is still a legit issue, but not as serious.  It's been four years since the launch of the Xbox One so hardware failures are bound to happen.  Also, the OP personally knew two who has issues at right about the same time.  Not a coincident, and something of a potential concern.  And these guys aren't the only two experiencing issues.

you need to put the numbers into perspective. a 3% failure rate is still around 1 million failed devices so no there is not a legit issue here (except for those that are unfortunate enough to be in the standard failure rate).

I did imply that the 3% failure rate was normal, but there might be more 1 million failed devices.  The more people you know with similar issues, the more that it is a "potential red flag."  "Potential" is the key word here.  No need to get defensive.

* Dying.

Ah, so happy that I live in a country that has enough consumer protection that if your console breaks before its been 5 years, the manufacturer has to replace it as long as it's only been used normally

Consumer protection, fuck yeah

I know 2 people with failed ps4's that is NOT a potential issue. I know one person with a dead switch (considering I only know 2 people with them does that make that a red flag too?). It isn't about being defensive it is about the ridiculousness of your statement.

Opinion noted.

I haven't heard of any issues from the people I know how have one. It's funny though, when we're talking about consoles dying within their own generation because I have two NESs, a SNES, Genesis... all of those old consoles and they all work as well as they worked decades ago.

Maybe progress isn't as thought-out as we think.

My Launch X1 is still going on strong but the power brick sounds like a turbine engine sometimes making me think its life is coming to an end. I probable just need to clean it since I have not done that since I bought it..
