I’ve visited the US several times already, as a kid for a school exchange or as an adult and I always felt like they’re living in a police state. Be it alcohol or drug laws, being monitored as a pupil or kid, like getting caught by the police and escorted home, just because you weren’t at home with 17 at 11pm...or during school times.
It always felt extremely restrictive to me, especially compared to Germany. I grew up with the images of the US being some kind of heavenly paradise, but initially ended up realising, that I was already living in paradise myself.
What do you mean with your speech is freer, btw?! You think freedom of speech isn’t a part of European constitutions?! I’d also argue that European Parliaments in general are much more democratic than in the US, since we usually have more than 2 parties.
