Funny, I was under the impression that Trump had absolutely no clue what he was doing, had no qualifications to be in the white house, and the only political experience he has gained has been through reality TV.

You are also under the impression that Trump damaged America's image on the world stage. In which way?

Honestly too many ways to list. Just this week he called african nations "shithole countries", has threatened North Korea too many times to count, comes across as a doofus in general, thus making America look bad to anyone not in America, and has been actively discriminating against people from the middle east and Mexico. Oh, he's also made fun of oriental folks in the past but I'm not privy to the exact details of that debacle because it was about three hundred scandals ago and my mind has been inundated with the shit show he's been putting on.

He's so aggressively insufferable that I've started to grow numb.

"Oh, he threatened nuclear war, comparing buttons to dick size in a twitter war with Kim Jong Un? Why am I not surprised. Gonna go watch Netflix and finger myself until I soak through my panties."

That's the standard image of the country. This image exists because:

1. America has a long history of intervening for their own interests in the resources of other countries. These interventions include the removal of unfavorable governments and putting jerks in charge.

2. America kills innocent people with drone strikes.

3. America is home to Microsoft which embodies everything that sucks about American businesses.

4. America has an idiotic two-party-system.

5. America loves baseball.

6. Hollywood is pathetic.

...and the list goes on and on and on. The only change that you can attribute to Trump is that America is now overt instead of making futile attempts to cover up.

You see, you don't have to worry about America's image. It had been irreparably damaged long before Trump entered the White House.

I'll give you 1 and 2, I have mixed feeling but I'll give you them.

3. Facebook and Google are worse, they're genuinely evil.

4. I really don't see a problem with the two party system. Democrats have moved to the far left while republicans have become centered in comparison. Hence, these parties do change with society. Meanwhile cities and states have a lot of power to shape themselves, experiment, etc.

5. Eh, I feel like basketball and football get a lot more attention.

6. Agreed! And anybody not a left winger tends to agree.

I can't say I was crazy about Trump early on, but I support the policies he's pushing.

If you're the kind of person that wants more socialism/higher taxes, lax immigration enforcement, and a weaker economy... then naturally you will hate a guy like Trump.

But hey, lets see how things look in 2020. If things go horribly wrong then we can go back to how things were before.

The people who back Trump's policies have the mentality of "As long as I'm doing OK and he doesn't touch me, I don't give a fuck what he does to all the other citizens in my country." It is the "I'm alright Jack" mentality. It is a selfish mentality that ultimately allows dictators to oppress large numbers of a country's population, while the rest of the country look on going "Great it isn't me, suckers!". Until eventually it will affect YOU! But hey it didn't affect you for X months or years, so why care back then right?
A very very short sighted outlook of your fellow citizens. Europe has been through all that (and some would argue they are going back to it recently), history will repeat itself unless people act very very soon.

Trump is a trash person.

Republicans are basically villains now, by bluntly taking from the poor to give to the rich while taking social services such as healthcare away from those who need it the most. .

The lies he pushes are laughable, and by simply repeating them he's making people actually believe them.

He's disgusting, he needs to be impeached, and everyone who has a brain can see the harm he's done to American People, to the image America has on the world stage through how mentally and emotionally unstable he is.

Trump is trash. If you support him, you are trash. Anyone with two eyes and an IQ above 75 can see he's scum, and should have seen that prior to his 'election'. Hell, Hillary was trash and she got the popular vote by nearly 3 million voters. (62,984,825 for Trump vs 65,853,516 for Hillary). Proof the Electoral college is WRONG.

This man is a natural disaster. A villain. Corporate scum.

But why don't you continue to go on about how good he is because he and his party may have saved you a few hundred bucks a year in taxes. Because that's what matters.

You know, your main complaint is how shitty the system is. And that shitty system is one reason why people voted for Trump. The thing is, that the candidates "play it safe" by not campaining where they don't have chance to win, this is a problem with the system. If "all votes would count", then the candidates would spend their time on campains in the biggest states. The real problem lies within the two-party system, where you only can choose between bad and worse. But this is a system which is made so that the people in power would continue being people in power.

How Trump seems to behave, is how he perceives all politicans to behave, what he's doing differently, is that he tries to "do something".

You obviously don't understand the US system. The two parties are both on the right, so that no matter which party is in power, the political situation is always stable, so that it would be safe for the companies to invest in US. The reason why you don't see huge investments to Africa, and  it's cheap workforce, is because almost all of the countries are politically unstable and you risk losing your money. This is also why EU takes similar direction to US and is removing the power away from people even further.n

The main concern for the rise of populism in Europe is, that populism is about bringing people back to power. If you look at Obama's "change" slogan, it was directly taken from European populists, who were advocating change at the time. In the same fashion, Trump's "build a wall to Mexico", isn't any different from Brexit talks, or in general different European countries closind their borders when the immigration crisis was at it's height.

In all seriousness, what else can you say about the African countries? I'm actually curious. If they aren't, why in the hell people are moving away from there in such a great numbers? And what should be done with the North-Korean situation? Trump is only echoing the Kim Jong Un threaths he makes on US. He's doing great job in how he's been handling the situation.

Trump isn't making the US look any more worse than it already was. The main concern about Trump abroad was, that as he did not have any prior experience in politics, nobody really knew his excact politics. Now that the situation has settled, he's viewed pretty much ok. And as he doesn't seem to interested in meddling other countries' business in the same way Obama was perceived, Trump in many way has much better image than Obama ever had. You would be amazed how many people thought the 911 was justified because "the US was asking for it". And no, I'm not talking about islamists.

The US' health care and social welfare system would surely need a revamp (and I'm not talking about the turd that was Obamacare). Higher taxes would be small price to pay for. But, it's not realistic to happen, as the US system relies so heavily on immigration. On one part low taxes lure rich people from abroad, as the welfare is the same as in the country of origin, but taxes are lower, or you pay the same taxes, but the welfare is better. And on the other hand, hogging as many immigrants as possible to try compete China and EU on global influence. Raising taxes would mean an end to rich immigration, and high social welfare combined with mass immigration is not sustainable to economy.

Also, raising taxes would have a huge impact on economy in the short term, even if it would be benefical in the long term, as the taxes goes to  public spending that create more jobs.

That may be true about Trump, but I'm really interested in about what are the options? Backing someone else's policies would just mean someone else would get the short end of the stick. When the problem is within the system and not the people, it is in the system and not the people.

You're right about Europe. Brexit was the step in the right direction, now to hope for more follow to bring power back to the people.

I'm not an expert on the subject of healthcare but its seems the primary complaint is the cost. The general consensus is the cost of healthcare has gone down, but a lot of people are paying higher premiums and/or deductibles due to Obamacare. People have the impression if we just paid slightly higher taxes we would get free healthcare for everybody, in reality it would be a massive tax increase which is why no US state has attempted it.

Some believe we take in so many immigrants in hopes of getting more left wing voters. Some believe we should take in many immigrants because its our duty to take in people with little if any benefit to us. Some immigrants do succeed and contribute, a good are also idiots that don't even finish high school. Essentially we have republicans saying we want immigrants but it should be merit based, while democrats feel that's racist.

When you lure businesses over that creates jobs. When businesses don't leave that keeps jobs here. When businesses aren't heavily taxed it apparently creates jobs, bonuses, etc. Essentially if more people are working at decent paying jobs, we can pay less taxes because there is less need for welfare. It also helps when there are two parents actually raising their kids, that means less poverty but that's a bigger social problem.

Unfortunately higher taxes doesn't create enough jobs per se. But tax money is used to contract private companies which actually compete for government money. They often do a better job than just having more government employees and cost less.

Yeah. The health care is expensive, but in the end, public healthcare may not be any more expensive on average than it is to pay your treatment by yourself. Although, it not just the workforce that pays more taxes, but also the employer. Basically what the public healthcare does, is lots of preventive job. Then again, not having a public healthcare system has it's benefits, as the private insurance companies have the interest to find effective treatments, so that they do not need to pay as much for the treatment of a disease. For example, you can expect Virtahealth having a bright future, that's treating diabetes with LCHF diet. Even though this is essentially monetising on public domain, and the treatment costs roughly 5000USD a year, this is third of what the conventional "treatment" costs (and this  way you also prevent a lot of the diseases that are being caused by/relate to diabetes) and Virtahealth offers a way to monitor that the patients stick to their treatment. This doesn't easilly happen in a public healthcare system, that just raises taxes when the treatment is too expensive.

Because the public systems aren't supposed to make profit, everything they collect in taxes has to be spent somewhere. This spending creates jobs, and people with jobs take more loans, and more loans means more money on the market, that create more jobs, and so on... Basically it's just a positive vortex, but bad timing may cause it to backfire and cause actually an negative vortex. It really doesn't matter if the public funded service is bought from private sector or does the public sector offer it by themselves. Public has the benefit of leaving more money to the region where  it is paid in the first place. From what I've understood, is that under Obamacare, there were people that had to pay for two expensive health care insurances.

That happens with the immigration, because the immigrants are just used as a tool for politics. If we REALLY would care about the people and wanted to do good, we'd be finding ways so, that people would not need to leave their homes. But this doesn't happen because everyone just want's to benefit from the immigrants.

The point is anyway, that as simple as the public healthcare system would look by the surface, it would require much larger structural change.
