A good one.

America got the president they deserved.
The Democrats messed up massively by putting Clinton forward, when Bernie Sanders had a clean sheet and had clear values that he stood for. Sanders would have been more anti-elite than Trump or Clinton. So people could have voted for Sanders. But fear is an amazing motivator!

Basically Americans were given the used car salesman speech and chose to ignore all the warning signs. The way he expresses himself, the way he demeans women, ethnic minorities, supports right wing extremists, supports pedophiles (because he's been there). What sort of president says "If she wasn't my daughter, I'd be dating her!!". Like seriously WTF?!?!? He's seriously contemplated having sex with his own daughter!! Who knows maybe he already has. And the American people want that guy as their president?! The American people fell for it hook, line and sinker. So they will reap what they sow and unfortunately it will be the very people that voted for him, mostly the poor, down trodden, who will be hit hardest by his narrow minded changes. The AMA repeal will affect the poor and masses. The move away from the Paris agreement will affect those like in Flint, Michigan, the masses (the rich can move to other countries and will be welcomed with their large bank accounts when the ground and air gets toxic). The tax reforms favour (there's a clause in there that favours tax breaks for owners of golf estates!) the rich over the middle classes and poor. It is all about making himself rich at the expense of everyone else. Trickle down economics is a falsehood!
If he isn't removed from office soon, there will be long term damage done to the the division between citizens as well as massive economic down-turn. By this time next year they will know about it.

I personally disliked Obama's politics, particularly his foreign policies, but at least he was a pleasure to listen to and he could think on his feet and had a thoughtful response to questions, even if I disagreed with them. There is literally nothing likeable about Trump the sociopath.

TL;DR; The US got the president they deserved. Maybe next time they'll be more careful at objectively analysing who they will put forward as their leader. Look through the bull-shit and find out what the person stands for, regardless of if they are Democrat, Republican or independent. Stop treating political parties like football teams. Just because you voted for Party X this time, doesn't mean you are obliged to vote for them for the rest of your life. Make your decision on what is best for you, your family and your fellow citizens. Vote accordingly. Football like blind fanaticism has not place in politics. It is too important for that!!

Yea we got what we deserved.  My country is full a idiots and crazy fucks.  To think that someone could actually believe trump is anti-elite is mind blowing.  He is the definition of elite.  You know you have a serious problem with your country's mental capacity when people actually believed that he would stack his administration with people that actually cared for the common man.  Nah lets appoint a bunch of goldman sachs fucks and people that don't know shit about the department to department heads.

Unfortunately I've seen this so much.

Potentially being the victim of a terrorist attack is a scary thought, but it is a statistically insignificant threat to someone living in a wealthy, western country. Doesn't mean we shouldn't do smart things to curb terrorism, but we need to act like rational adults and not scared children.

People are scared of the boogeyman and big daddy Trump makes them feel better because he "talks tough". But he ignores or exacerbates more immediate threats in favor of the ones that look the scariest on TV.

Wow, 70%+ unfavord on this site. How, in a rebublic does someone with such high unfavorability gets elected?

Notice that this isn't representative of the general population, and trump is also alot less popular outside of the us than within it.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

1.) A plurality election with no instant run-off favors a two party system

2.) An electoral college, with a winner-take-all system makes it so that one party receives a disproportionately high amount of power with a disproportionately low number of votes

3.) The party that is favored by the electoral college has pretty much completely abandoned fact-based discourse over the past decade plus - Trump does well in a world absent of facts

4.) The opposition party ran a competent, but well-connected political elite, which the country has grown tired of - Clinton

5.) The party that has abandoned fact-based discourse ran an incredibly effective smear campaign, blowing minor improprieties into criminal implications, against Clinton that lasted over four years, while producing no tangible results

If you want evidence of #5, Hillary's emails were the most covered story of 2016. The bi-partisanly appointed FBI Director said, "no charges", and even the Trump justice department is taking no real action, because there is nothing to take action against. They just really like talking about it, because it is a political talking point that worked really well for them.

In the end, the American voter chose "not Trump" by a margin of 8%. They chose Clinton over Trump by a margin of 2%. But it wasn't enough to overcome the wackiness of 2016.

Demographics.  In general polling he is 55% disapprove and 38% approve.  Doesn't surprise me as he does very well with older people (50+)  who likely aren't on here.

I'm quite surprised that Trump hardly lost any support.

Currently, just about 4.3% now support him less than they did back then - and 2.7% now support him more than they did back then.
So he basically only lost 1.6% support. Quite impressive.
