Problem most good states get pretty damn cold during winter.  Need more global warming.  Became a cold pussy since coming from Ohio to Texas 19 years ago.  Currently in Austin which is alright except all the fucks that keep coming here.   And I'm sorry to hear you were from Mississippi.  Must have been traumatic.  I bet you need counseling for that.  PTSD from living in redneck country.

I am from Memphis, TN. Went to college in MS and spent some years in Oxford, MS. I actually enjoyed Oxford. Here you will find that you have southerners, rednecks, white trash, etc. They come in variety packs haha.

Memphis, TN huh.  Heard there were some rough and tough areas around there.  My parents had a second home between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but it burnt down a couple years ago in that big Sevierville fire.

We need a wall immediately!  National Crisis!  Just look at Israel.  They built a wall and now look at all the immigrants trying to flood into Israel!

We need a even better HUGELY WALL!

Thank you. I haven't laughed so hard in a while.

Yes there are a few rough areas. I grew up in the Hickory Hill area. Toward the end of my time there gun fire was common place. It was hit by a tornado several years ago and has gotten even worse.

Then you have Frasyer, Downtown and Orange Mound. However, Memphis is making some strides, Midtown, Germantown, and Lakeland come to mind.

Sorry for the loss. East TN is where I would love to retire, specifically Chattanooga.

Did anyone see a increase or decrease in their Tax return this year. There are a few articles out there that basically saying Trump Administration decrease the withholding's so that people would see more from their paycheck but the cost of course is that instead of a tax refund at the end of the year as most may expect, they could be paying the IRS.

I did not do my taxes yet but I already did my homework and know that I will be getting less and tax more with Trump and the GOP tax plan since I have 3 kids.

I recieved less than I thought last year, so I crunched the numbers to get an idea of what I would get for this year.

I made about 75k last year. I have 3 kids, under The GOP plan the child reimbursement went up by $800 per kid. I also saw about a 8% decrease in overall income tax.

My 2010-2017 tax returns ranged from 2k to 3.5k. This year I will get back $6k. Which is a little less than I projected last year.

Edit: I just realized I only owe a little over 6k on my student loans. Guys, this is a happy day!

Lived in the south all of my life. Racism exists, but is pushed out of everyday life. Black, hispanic and white people break bread together frequently. Interracial couples are common and interracial churches are increasing. Seeing people of different races working, fishing, dating, etc each other is so common place that it is difficult to go shopping or out to eat without seeing races interacting in a positive manner. The racists are relegated to their closets.

That's my point.  Just because you don't see confederate flags doesn't mean there aren't racists.

Just because racists are "relegated to their closets" doesn't mean they don't still have an impact on others, and it doesn't mean they don't exist.

However, nice job ignoring a real life example and hard numbers in favor of what feels right.

Your "hard numbers" are anecdotal.

And it's not about what feels right.  I've got anecdotal evidence that suggests the opposite of yours.

Also should note I never said there weren't any white supremacists only that they represent less than a percent of the population.

I never said you said otherwise.  The point that I was making is that if number of flags correlates to the number of people who support that flag, then there'd be basially 0 communists.

1. I never said that there weren't any racists. My point was that they exist in small numbers to the point of not being important in every day life with every day people. Should their actions effect others then they need to be held accountable. Legislating thought is silly. Right now, they have 0 impact on southern society. Maybe their families, but nothing for society.

2. All numbers on white supremacists are ancedotal. No one has hard numbers on them.

Therefore, the only meaningful way to get an esitmation on their numbers is to use any data we have on their activity. The most significant activity they have had in the last 20 years was the Unite the Right rally. It only ran about 500. So, its possible to surmise that only about 2000 openly active white supremacists exist. Then to get an exact number on other racists and white supremacists we need to start reading minds.

3. I agree with that notion. However, gauging a number on people's unspoken thought is difficult at best. I can only make a call based on action.

My entire point in this thread was simply to say that the South is no where near as racist as people say. I speak of every day people.

Do you really think it's reasonable to estimate that 1 out of every 4 white supremacists in the US was in attendance at the Unite the Right rally? Estimates for the membership of the KKK alone are at 5,000- 8,000 members (https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-many-nazis-are-there-in-america-really) and the KKK chapters make up 130 of the 450 white supremacist organizations in the US (https://www.thewrap.com/how-many-white-supremacists-splc-hate-map/). I don't mind the idea that they make up far less than 1% of the population, but 2,000 sounds like a ridiculously low number.

Its a guess and might be ridiculously low. I am willing to go up to 8k. But the numbers in that estimate are admittedly anecdotal as well. The SPLC has not done a census of the groups. 2k could be ridiculously low, but 8k could be too high. No one really knows. Either way it doesn't hurt the point.

I have 0 kids.  Only make 28-30k a year with overtime.  They withheld about 300 less than previous year from paycheck but saw a decrease in return by about 100 or so.  So I got 200 more dollars from the tax cut.  We all know who the real benefactors of the tax cut were.  Actually I made a little less than previous year so I probably got shit.
