Lol, that ship has passed.  If you believe Trump can make that same play again you really are deceiving yourself.  The Dems isn't given him a wall unless he gives up a lot.  If he tries the same shutdown play again, he will definitely see even worst results.  I guess Trump showed the Dems how weak they are and continue to play people like you.  Keep up the good fight, this is just getting started.  Now Trump will feel what Obama felt when you have opposition in Congress.

You can put your hopes that he goes for the Emergency route.  That should be even more fun as he lose more Republicans in the Senate for that move and probably more voters.

The best part is that he will be the first one to pull the trigger.  If it fails he has no other outs and it harms everyone from top to bottom.

IF it works though? That sets such a dangerous precedent that you can tell many Republicans are afraid of.

Health care? Climate change? Gun Control? The sky is the limits for the democrats.

"They got a wall, now it is time for universal healthcare for all".

This is the reason I believe he will go the Emergency route.  Trump isn't a Republican.  He can care less about the impact of his decision in the future because he only cares about himself.  Mitch McConnell will have a baby, because he knows that once this  is set, it will be a domino effect.  Its the reason why he never gave in to Trump on the 60 vote filibuster.  He knows if he did that and the Dems take control again, it will be fun times for his Party.  None of them really have a strong feeling Trump will win a 2020 term.  The Dems will challenge and it probably will go to the Supreme court but in the end if they rule in favor of Trump, its still a win win for them.  They have way more things they would love to set as a national emergency for then the GOP at the moment.

So now Trump has given the Dems three weeks of reinstated Gov to make a deal, which is what they were asking for. Let's see how much more reasonable they are now and how often they actually show up to meetings. My guess, things won't change, and Trump can shut down again and put the blame on the Dems and make it seem like it was only their fault the entire time. Well played.

PFF! It didn't do that at all, his approval rating dropped like a rock that entire time with +20% blaming the Repubs over the Dems for the shutdown.

It didn't do that at all? Have we traveled ahead in time 3 weeks already? They do say time fly's...

I'd also like to take the article seriously, but since it's CNN, everyone knows no matter how the shutdown ended, that headline was already chosen and wasn't going to be changed, no matter how the article had to be written to fit the title.

Machiavellian said:

lol, you have given no reason for the Dems to deal while the government is shutdown.  Yo have the president saying he will shutdown the government if he doesn't get his way and he has stated he will do it again.  You have presented absolutely no reason why the Dems would continue to go down this route. You continue to state that the government shutdown is Trump leverage and that is where you and Trump are wrong.  After all this time, Trump had to concede because your leverage wasn't working.  So it appears you were wrong.  The Dems stood tough and Trump needed a way out of a stupid plan that failed.

As to your opinions, as the sayings goes, even a broken clock can be right twice a day.

You will have to forgive me, I have no clue what you are talking about in your third paragraph.  You made a silly comment about federal works who are not getting paid and you turned it into some kind of right wing rant.  Yes, I do believe people who think 800K not getting paid no big deal is self centered.  Even if they get back pay, they still have to worry about all the penalties for car, mortgage, utility bills you name it.  Not including food or any medical issues that can occur.  I guess living in your world where you do not have to care about the plight of such people is all good, but I happen to know a bunch of federal works and their issues.

You've said this a few times already by chance, and the fact you don't understand that, or are possibly bypassing what was said because it's the cold hard truth, which tends to be a lefty trait, says a lot.

So Trump goes the emergency route, get's the wall, loses some political backing, and then what? Loses the 2020 election to another Rep Prez? Poor Trump. Going back to that billion dollar business after giving his voters what they asked for in just 4 years time, is going to be such a terrible thing to live with. The poor guy. Somehow, I doubt it.

The Left's hatred of the great President Donald J. Trump. Trump's strength is what most nations need as a great political leader. Donald J. Trump is the greatest American President of all time, we want America to fund Trump's border wall, so many people wish they  were American so they could vote for President Trump. It is weak leadership that leads to deterioration in its economy, strong leadership strengthens the economy. Building strong borders helps to strengthen economy and promotes nationalism and pride in one's country.

El oh el, that's news to me.

Just like every president before him, he isn't as bad as his opponents say nor is he as good as his proponents say.

Economically he isn't perfect, but overall better than most presidents. (I lean right here in most ways)

Socially he is fucking terrible. Worse than most presidents before him. (I lean left the vast majority of the time here)

I am more centrist than I should be. I call myself a Constitutionalist.

And it’s not polling. Trump re-opened government about 3 hours after the labour unions gave him an ultimatum. Basically it was reopen or they were going to smack him with strikes. They won’t hesitate for over a month the next time Trump takes a tantrum.

Also, trying the exact same thing and expecting a different result is, you know...

Trump’s “Art of the deal” has the grace and beauty of a retarded kindergartener doing finger painting. On paper, nothing happens except one big mess of shit. In reality, the shit is getting all over everyone’s stuff.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Yeah, extremely impossible (redundant I know) to negotiate with someone who says "under no circumstances and no concessions will you ever get funding for a wall".

Not that he needs it. In all honesty borders fall under the executive branch and he could simply use as much of the military budget as he would like. Trump is either totally unaware of this or decided to get some attention. I will go with both.

Are you fucking serious?

Suppose you'd also like to hire pedophiles to guard the migrant children he locked up too, or have the EPA dump oil on the coral reefs, or have transgender soldiers put to death.

After all, your "president" has gotten away with all sorts of shitty actions in office, he might as well do what I described above.

The pedo's were during Obama's term and so were the court cases and changes based on the court rulings, after the Obama admins original implementation, which led to the pedo problem to begin with.

Is he, though? He punched a $1.7 trillion hole in the deficit (a 6-year high) IN ONE YEAR! And took away programs for the lower and middle class (including medicare and medicaid which he repeatedly said he wasn't going to) to benefit the wealthy and overspent on the military. He also sent the stock market into a tailspin with his terrible tarriffs. The only reason the economy isn't tanking (yet) is because he inherited a strong economy from Obama which he shamelessly tried to take credit for and is now desperately trying to find a way to blame the Dems on when the Dow Jones started going South.

This vid by Robert Reich explains it best:

IKR? If his approval rating dropping 6 points and his party getting blamed for the shutdown is "well played", then his supporters got played like a fiddle!
