Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Direct "leaked" for January through EA

They are just doing what they do best.  Let other people develop a game and then they slap their name on it as publisher.  However, one has to wonder why would an small developer would go with EA now when they could just self publish their title themselves like most indie developers do these days on various eshops.

Given how non indie studios have fared under EA it's probably best to self publish no matter who you are.

as expected

hope it's a meaty one though, they have had a great year, but the confirmed release schedule in 2018 is really weak right now

I do believe some form of presentation will happen in January from Nintendo. But I don't think it'll be a general Direct. If only because I don't think Nintendo has much of anything lined up for the 3DS next year. At most, you'll see one new unannounced game in 2018, and even then it'll just be yet another end-of-the-console's-life filler type game. So this January Direct in 2018 will instead be similar to this years event, in that, it'll be a Switch only presentation laying out all of Nintendo's plans for that year, including revealing most of the lineup that year. The big difference is that it'll be a pre-recorded presentation instead of a live one like this year's event was.

A direct is a direct, be it only a single system, or a single game.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Wow, an EA game on the Switch. Colour me surprised, I thought they had packed their bags and left their system. Then again, rumour.

This game was actually confirmed to be released on Switch a while ago.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Pikmin 4 and Animal Crossing! Give it to me!
Bayonetta ports might get announced. And the rumored SMM and Smash too.

New trailer for FE 2018 will be awesome!

Pocky Lover Boy!

At this point, a direct in the beginning of the year is standard now. Hopefully they have news on the next Fire Emblem. Now that would get me plenty hyped

Isnt January direct a staple?

It's not, Since 2011, there have only been two January Directs (talking general, not game specific). One in 2013 and another in 2015. Its actually more common to see them between the last week of February and the first week of March, which has happened three times. I should also note that Nintendo has not announced a first party title for Switch in a Direct. The only Nintendo published games announced via a Direct were Pokken Tournament DX and a tease of a Fire Emblem game. The whole January Direct is pure speculation.

I would still be skeptical of this. There doesn't seem to be any unique images (such as game screenshots), so it could have just been made in photoshop. It also puts the January Direct as TBC, so even if it is real, it's not confirmed here (even the creator of this could be speculating). It's also dubious how someone got it. They just happen to be part of an EA claim email and they just send this? Did the person even provide any additional details from conversations? Seems odd.
