Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So is Peach the first name, and Toadstool the last? Peach Toad, Princess of the Mushrooms

Has anyone put any thought into this?

Or was Princess Toadstool killed during the events of Super Mario RPG, and Peach is her heir?

What do you think?

None of that "It's what Japan called her" nonsense! Otherwise, we should call her Princess Momo.

Princess Toadstool is totally dead. Princess Peach is a Realian built by the Vector Corporation.

According to the Mario Wiki. her name is Peach Toadstool.
NOJ never named her Toadstool but the west did before Mario 64 and after Mario 64 Japan recognizes her last name as Toadstool.

Well from the SM64 opening, she says "Princess Toadstool, Peach." I'd take that as her first name being Peach and her last name being Toadstool.

Princess Toadstool I remember from Mario 64

Princess Toadstool is more of a title in the Kingdom that monarchs hold, Peach is her actual name. Same situation with Bowser being King Koopa.

does she have parents?

Seems to be the same deal as Nash/Charlie from Street Fighter Alpha.
He was called Nash in Japan, but Charlie in the west. Then in Street Fighter V, Capcom made his name Charlie Nash in both versions. So Nash is implied to have been his last name.

Akuma Gouki, Balrog M. Bison, M. Bison Vega and Vega Balrog are their names too then?

You're not wrong about how it began, but he was officially made into Charlie Nash waaaaaaaaay before SF5. Like, 10 years before, at least.

I believe that somewhere along the timeline Bowser did in fact successfully kidnap the redheaded Princess Toadstool. He replaced her with a blonde bimbo named Peach and Mario never noticed the difference.

Thumbs up on this!

You’re the truth speaker. I can’t believe all these people have been fooled into thinking that it once in the 5 times she was kidnaped before Mario 64 that Bowser didn’t pull the old switcheroo. Maybe each time he has captured Peach since he is gathering detailed espionage info from offices of the highest level of the Mushroom Kingdom’s government. Koopaminati?
