You are correct. I had forgotten that Nintendo bought out monolith software.

The Last Story is also first party.

I recommend Pandora's Tower which is also first party.

I thought last story was developed by mistwalker and published by Xseed.

Pandora's Tower is also Xseed. I have that one as well.

Why only 1st party? There are actually quite a few good 3rd party games on Wii.

First party only? Ok. There are a bunch of good third party games, but fine.

In alphabetical order:

Art Style: Orbient (Not for everyone, but worth a look)
Fluidity (Published by Nintendo, fantastic puzzle platformer)
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Metroid: Other M (Game play is generally fun, but has its issues. If you are not a Metroid fan you can ignore the story and it makes the game better.)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario All-Stars (If you don't have it on another console)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Last Story
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Xenoblade: Chronicles
Wii Sports
Wii Sports Resort

It was published by Nintendo everywhere but North America.  Same for Pandora's Tower.

I would probably consider that second party due to the fact that even though Nintendo published it they did not develop it with an in-house studio.

Wii Fit and Wii Music. Seriously. Wii is still the main console of my family, and my kids (and I) still like these games. Alongside most that were already mentioned, especially Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Not forgetting that Wii is also a GameCube...

Carpe diem!

No one has mentioned WarioWare: Smooth Moves, so I'm mentioning it. One of the best uses of motion controls on the Wii. Some people find it has a short lifespan, but I keep coming back trying to raise my high scores. Pretty much everyone finds it fun for at least some time though!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Excite Bots/Excite Truck (Excite bots is probably the better of the two)
Wii Sports Resort
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Punch Out
