Maybe you try and debate with me, instead of showing attitude. Jeez.

It isn't a debate, you're comparing lifetime numbers of the most successful console that generation with mid gen numbers for this gen, snes finished 18n ahead of the nearest competitor, and despite being available for sale in stores for 13 years, was only able to muster just under 50 million, yet this generation the Ps4 has done 65m in a third of that time, if that doesn't show you how dramatically different the industry was back then nothing will.

Also, given how poorly xbox one is selling, I wouldn't call a gap of 17.5 million, "well on its way to outsell" anyway, and what sort of measure of success are you throwing around if beating a console with a lifetime cap of 50m is 17.5m off when your nearest competitor accomplished that feat long ago and continues to pull ahead.

You know, the funny thing is this, the switch has been on sale for less than a year, and it's closer to pulling ahead of the xbox one than the xbox one is to pulling ahead of the snes, because it's weekly sales are significantly higher.

Have fun trying to spin that.

I don't have to spin that, since it's already spinned.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

It's not THAT unique. Nintendo just went a wiser route and consolidated their console efforts and handheld business as one, and that appeals to a lot of people. You don't have one taking away from the other anymore, and the device is going to prosper from it.

How many hybrid consoles do you know?

When all is said and done, it's a tablet. Just one that's dedicated to Nintendo products.

Don't ask someone to elaborate further if you can't handle the result.

They're probably gonna try to make more exclusives and continue making games for PC and Xbox.

Xbox One biggest competitor should be the Xbox 360.

They are a looong way to catch it up, how are the aligned sales by now?

Four years in, i cant see how the One would reach 360's numbers.

Frankly I'll be surprised if they break 65m lifetime at this rate, let alone 80+m

Are you serious? Lmao.

Why are you in a thread if you can't handle it?

Make?

MS Biggest 1st Party Studios were basically built around a single franchise.

Which Studio is going to drop its franchise to make something new?

Turn 10?

Coalition?

343 Studios?

So a system that is well on its way to outsell the snes isn't successful? Okkaayyy......

They don't need to beat PS to be successful, you know...

You know, talk like this really goes to show how limited your knowledge of the industry is. While you are right that they don't need to beat PS to be successful, that's only because of all the other extras that goes with gaming today that wasn't there in the time of the snes. Eg? XB live subscriptions. microtransactions.....etc.

Think of it his way. In the time of the snes, a AAA game would have cost $1M to make and with teams of like 30 or so people. today? A AAA game cost on average $50M to make and with teams that goes into the hundreds and with asst outsourcing and whatnot.

Think about that when next you compare modern gaming to the SNES.

He asked a question and gave valid reasons for doing so. Why not respond with answers that tackle these ideas?

Tell me what valid reason he gave to label Xbox not successful.

Lack of a viable long term vision.
