They first have to release the Switch Lite and then the New Switch before the successor.

How do you expect a Switch Lite to be?

The joycons are small enough as they are...

Yep. Nintendo might even come up with an HDMI streaming stick that let's you stream Switch games from a potential Joycon-less, dock-less Switch model to a tv, so that you can still choose to play in handheld or tv mode.

If the Switch's successor could do a full 1080p like perfectly with stuff like 60fps even on third party games (like Doom) with all the anti-aliasing filters on and post processing and HDR and everything else that makes a picture great without any hiccups of any kind, I would be really happy. I'm not one to ask Nintendo to be at the top of the power mountain but it seems they insist on being far behind the others in this department.

But knowing Nintendo and knowing that people buy their products regardless of the power I doubt they'll invest in power and I assume the successor will be just slightly more powerful than the Switch.

Expect the usual "for exclusives get the Nintendo machine but for third party, processor heavy games, you are way better off with a Playstation, an Xbox or a PC".

EDIT: Oh and I almost forgot, if the successor (or one of the successors) could be a dedicated home system and not a portable, I would appreciate. Not saying they should not do a portable too but putting both concepts in the same machine does not work well (power-wise).

Switch will be just like iPhone. We'll get an incentive to upgrade but it'll be the same system in most regards. Various sizes will be released like a mini and a large slate.

4K gaming on a handheld?, do you realize that 4K gaming isn't even quite there yet for fully features consoles?, it's only the upper echelon of PC specification that's pulling it off, right?

There is no reason at all why Nintendo would buck their trend and go with anything higher than 1080p for their next console, and no reason at all why it would need to.
