Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How will the Loot Box controversy, if played out to have an effect, affect Nintendo?

Figured it would be a interesting question I don't think many are talking about. Best I can guess is that Nintendo would be mostly ignored, but it may have some impact on Amiibo use (with more uses like Yoshi's Wooly World and less like Breath of the Wild) at the most going forward.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

it won't affect Nintendo at all. Unless they begin using lootboes

Amiibos are literally lootboxes:

I don't think it will affect Amiibos, because there are two important differences with loot boxes:

-An Amiibo is an actual material thing.
-You can use them as often as you want.

No they are not. You arent gambling with amiibo

To me Amiibos don't seem like the same thing, after all you are getting a figurine out of it. If anything I think it's more like a toy that has added features to it.

Lol, what?

Oh man. I wonder if this will hit those shitty mobile games. This is an interesting turn of events. I can't wait for the insurrection happen.

Nintendo has been experimenting with new ways of monetization, so I think this controversy will make them keep away from trying anything like loot boxes for the time. Since they are family friendly company, they probably don't want anything to do with gambling in their games.
