Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What's the reaction to the lack of Switch Black Friday sales

Sneaky Nintendo, limiting the supplies just so we feel special when they have any Switches in stock. Their black Friday deal is "you get to buy Switches today!"

For some this is a great deal.

Eh, there is no such thing as Black Friday here so it doesn't bother me, I'll buy mine when it gets enough exclusives that I'd like to play. As for the US, it only means that anyone that wants a Switch for these holydays will be able to get it whitout much trouble.

Nintendo should probably try to meet demand in Japan before thinking about cutting the price in other regions anyways.

Say you have 5 million to sell. And we all know they will sell every single unit.

@ $300 = $1.5 billion.

@ $250 = $1.25 billion.

You just left a quarter billion dollars in revenue on the table for what purpose?

I wouldn’t go that far. Switch is going to sell very well, no doubt, but every unit is a bit of a stretch. The device has been readily available at most retailers for months now. It’s passed it’s sold out days, and logically Nintendo is going to be putting out far more stock over the holidays than they did the rest of the year. I agree, no need for a price drop, but every unit sold? Very doubtful, unless Nintendo intentionally goes back to artificial demand.

Every single one will be sold out, the only question is if they could accelerate any considerable amount with a price cut on what they can output, and I don't think they would.

It would be stupid of them to discount their own used tissues at this point. Heck, at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if there are no discounts NEXT black Friday. I'll give it until the Switches 3rd black Friday before sales start going down low enough that they need the boost, but then again there could be a permanent price drop (if they make it for cheaper) before that or a handheld version that is cheaper, therefore making discounts unnecessary.

Was anyone expecting a sale for the Switch? The console just came out a it's a Nintendo product. It's not gonna be on sale for a long time.

I don't even think it'll need it on its 3rd Black Friday because that's when I expect Pokemon to come out.

They are gonna sell as much as they can ship regardless so cutting the price wouldnt make any sense for them.

stock is available everywhere so far online, so it's not close to selling out.

No need to lower price. It is selling very well.

Not discounting the main system outside of a few bundles is expected since this is the first year.

I am disappointed they didn't discount any accessories... mainly the Pro controller, I really wanted to pick up a discounted pro controller.

Doesn't make any sense to have price cuts on something that they've been fighting to fill demand for all year. Black Friday deals next year may be the first time we see any sort of deal. Maybe a Summer Bundle for $299 (game included) before that, but not much else.
