Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's 2018 lineup could be bonkers!

How excited are you for Nintendo's 2018?

MAXIMUM OVERHYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11 14.29%

Super hyped! 11 14.29%

Cautiously Optimistic 30 38.96%

Meh 15 19.48%

Reserved pessimism 5 6.49%

I am Super Worried for Switch's 2018 2 2.60%

NINTENDOOMED! DOOMED I SAYYYYYYYY!!!!! 3 3.90%

Total:77

It's hard to determine how great 2018 will be with the confirmed lineup we have at this time. Fortunately, this isn't all final and there is a possibility of more coming up. I mean, we didn't even know DOOM was going to be holiday title until September and Mario + Rabbids was officially introduced at E3 and released in September.

But so far:

Fire Emblem 2018
Kirby: Star Allies
Yoshi 2018
Ace Attorney
DQXI (hopefully)
Wolfenstein II
3 Bandai Namco titles
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (not sure if confirmed 2018)
Attack on Titan 2
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
Dragon Quest Builders
Fear Effect Reinvented and its sequel
Warframe
Project Octopath Traveler

Then you got TBA titles like Dragon Quest Builders 2, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokémon. Plus, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros., Pikmin 4, and Retro Studios are bound to make their mark soon enough. And who knows, maybe Rockstar will bring in GTA or Red Dead? What about From Software since they're listed as among the many third-party supporters for the Switch? Who knows what will be announced in the foreseeable future. I'm pretty optimistic about it.

Edit: Forgot about the possibility of Dragon Ball Fighter Z and the rumored Soul Calibur VI.

I will get super hyped if they announce Kid Icarus Uprising 2

Nintendo had carefully planned the release schedule for 2017, so it makes perfect sense that 2018 is similarly good (minus game of the generation material like Breath of the Wild). The only thing that concerns me is how close to the vest Nintendo holds their games right now. The console business is momentum-driven and a large part of the Switch's success is that the next interesting game has always been right around the corner. It's November and we still hardly know anything about the first half of 2018.

What mitigates my concern is that Switch momentum is so high that Nintendo's secrecy is unlikely to do any harm, so even if it takes until January for a proper Direct, everything is still going to be fine.

I disagree, actually in Switch case large part is of why Switch is so successful is because you already have great games available from start. Switch is so popular, has great concept and great games already, that point that we dont know almost nothing about Switch 2018. lineup dont hurt Switch at all.

Not going to lie, that list doesn't really suggest it's going to be a stellar year, unless more titles and heavy hitters are announced for release within 2018 I'm going to guess that 2018 will be a slump year while major titles are being worked on, followed up by a much better year in 2019.

Like I said though, only going off the currently confirmed releases (assuming non are delayed into 2019) it would easily change it some bigger titles get announced for 2018 and actually hit in 2018

We actually don't know almost anything about 2018. Switch lineup, it's like 80-90% of Switch 2018. Switch lineup yet needs to be revealed, so of course that much more titles, including heavy hitters will be announced during 2018. year. Point is that Nintendo with Switch is holding card very close to chest and they are only focusing only released in near future, basically that's what Reggie said that few weeks ago, that they are focusing on holiday season and they will talk about 2018. games in 2018. year. Even with Switch 1st year we had couple of games where they are announced only around 1-2 months before launch. Almost certain Nintendo Direct in January will be good start, but they will not announced hole Switch 2018. linuep in January, some announcements will be saved for later Directs and E3 (even for some Direct after E3).

I have faith in nintendo. Their first party always delivers. Not worried about 3rd party. I buy most of those on my ps4 anyway.
So far I'm hyped for fire emblem myself and I'll see if I get any of the other games. I hope they port the xenoblade game that was made for Wii u.

Hopeful and long shot games lol.
Goldeb Sun - full fledged rpg remake or new story for Nintendo switch
Mario FPS - yea I know I'll get shit for this, but I mean he's done everything but that lol. He already using guns in mario+rabbids. Let's take that shit all the way to fps land. Hell make it fps brothers and include the Nintendo family. Also yes, I know it's ridiculous and will probably never happen but one can dream lol.

You forgot about those 3 Bandai Namco's exclusive titles and Ace Attorney, 3rd party looking good for 2018.

What games are those? I checked their website and don't see anything.

Not sure why you would want Pikmin 3 over 4

and 3D Land over 3D World

I'm not too hopeful, but as long as 2018 is good enough, then that's fine. Hopefully Rune Factory 5, DQ XI and the Tales game.

That's a typo. I meant 3D World. Is the Rune Factory developer still around? I heard they went under.

Pretty excited for Blade Strangers.

What's that?

It could be, and it could be equally empty.

I'm not interested in third-party switch releases so I'm looking at Nintendo's 2018 releases. Fire Emblem and Yoshi are coming, I feel like a Smash 4 Deluxe is likely. Beyond that I'm not sure what Nintendo's 2018 lineup will look like. I feel like Pokemon won't make a 2018 release. Animal Crossing is also possible but after expecting to see one announced for WiiU for so long I'm not going to make the mistake of expecting it now.

Animal Crossing on Switch will make the systems fly in Japan. It is pretty much a given it is coming next year with the release of the phone game.

The team that did Splatoon 2 is the same team that did New Leaf though. Can they really pump AC out just a year and a half after Splatoon 2, while still making new content for Splatoon 2?

I doubt the work on Splatoon 2 did take up all their ressources since the game is so close to the original. Even updates shouldn't take all the memebers of their team to be done and added into the game.

I think they're might have been a small part of the team that was already working on AC for Switch since July at least, which coincides with the release of Splatoon 2.

They can always take the engine of ... Amiibo Festival with little tweaks if they wanna spare some time on the graphic department ;)

I never realized until now that Amiibo Festival had good 3D assets. I thought it was just a shovelware title with quickly made 3D assets. AC in 2018 would be crazy.

3D land? That would be odd.

Not to burst any bubbles, but it doesn't compare to Zelda + Mario OD + Splatoon 2 + Mario Kart + Xeno 2.

I hope that new Fire Emblem is actually good though. Fates was so cliché and grindy that it put me off the series.
Bring back my boy Ike! (*I wish* Never gonna happen).

Less waifu and more storyu plox.

What i would like to see is a Xeno X port with extra content and save carry over.
