I hate what EA did to Command & Conquer

I still can't believe that I beta tested C&C 4 for them. Some years later I eventually found out that C&C 4 was originally going to be a Moba style RTS designed for Asia, and not the West, but when that idea fell flat, they tuned it into what we see as C&C 4.

Once I bought the StarCraft 2 warchest, I couldn't live without SC2. I play it obsessively. 850 games last season. PC gaming was a thing I got into at 12, I bought HalfLife box set at the grocery store for $10. I can't say I haven't looked back because I owned a Wii, 360 and PS3 during the 7th gen. Some games are just better on PC, but I played COD and BF on consoles because my shitty Dell PC couldn't handle it until I built a new one. It's certainly more expensive, but I think that anyone with the money should go for it unless they have an aversion to PC gaming.

It seems like EA won't bother continuing an IP if it isn't bringing in millions. So they downsize the studio or make them work on another "bigger" IP. Due to poor quality that strategy often proves to bring in even less money (and more closures) and instead they should've just settled with the "small" but healthy profits they initially had.

This way EA would also receive goodwill from fans of that specific IP. Goodwill is important for long term growth. I know that EA isn't a charity but C&C 3: Tiberium Wars sold 1 mill in 2 months. That game was definitely profitable.

C&C 4 is a perfect example of EA trying to make development cheaper and profits bigger. But instead they end up ruining the IP and the studio by creating something that fans don't want.

For me, it's the settings. I can make the game play exactly how I want. My GTX 1070 may not be as powerful as the Xbox One X, but I can still turn it into a 1440p 60 ultra settings card rather than trying to force 4k on everything. Also, PC lets me use any control options I want.

There's also mods and exclusives, and the fact that it's convenient to have a machine right there that can do everything besides gaming as well.

In my case it's because of cheap games and convenience.

Thanks to the numerous sales, games are a lot cheaper on PC and, on top of that, there are plenty stores/sites that give away free games. For example, 7 of my 11 games at UPlay and 12 of my 13 games at Origin were free, and I also have several on Steam.

Then there's convenience. I already spend a lot of time in front of my PC, so for me it's easier to just launch Steam or another platform and play with a couple of clicks.

1. Superior multiplats.
2. The ability to use whichever control scheme I prefer
3. The ability to pick which graphical settings I wish to sacrifice to increase performance.
4. Backwards and forwards compatibility is unmatched.
5. Point and click adventures.

Depends on the game and the amount of effort that went into it. If you pick some random game that no one has heard of, then nude mods will be bad but if it's like Skyrim and etc, then yea, it's pretty great
