We live in an era where they made three movies out of the hobbit. So the answer is by adding a lot golf stuff. That also explains the long development time.

Hey, if they're making a fishing game, they might as well add golf!

And don't forget kart racing.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Well, I hope this is true. I need FFVII remake in my life. I don't even care about KH3 nearly as much :P

I'd be happy with three 30 hour main line games + side quests.

Given the three episode structure does anyone think this will all be on PS4? Split PS4/PS5, or just shift it all to PS5?

I think he means they was going to call it FF7R Part 1 at first, but then changed it into FF7R Episode 1 because it's still one game.

When you put it that way, that would at least makes sense. So that's probably it.

But then he is again suggesting that they strategically chose the term "episodes" in order to emphasize that it is a long story. Except there are two  problems with this statement.
"Multi-part series" more properly paints the picture of a longer story than "episodic", which caused a lot of confusion and made people think the games will be shorter because they were looking at how games like Telltale Games series, Resident Evil Revelations 2, or Square Enix's own (publisher) Life Is Strange is segmented up in smaller episodes.

Secondly, as I mentioned, Square Enix did not refer to it in such a way in their original Japanese press release. It was only in English translations that "episodic" was to be found.
So it seems to me is that this comes from someone who doesn't realize this, or that episodic would a worse way of conveying the message that the game is longer. It actually convinced people of the opposite. Several of whom are members here.

A series is made up of multiple episodes. Ex: Matrix trilogy, and the FFXIII Trilogy, so I think the term episodic is safe.

I understand the interview is kind of weird, it looks like someone use google translate in my opinion, that's my take on that.

This is great, i mentioned before that game 1 ending in jenova birth was one of the best solutionsif its split in 3. I hoped for only 2 parts but og well...

Zones like ff12 is one great solution.

In the first interview they say Ito san is developing the next final fantasy?
I dont know about this... but i hope its all true.

The Bolded true? His final fantasy games are the only ones I liked  and Unless I missed something he hasn't directed a game since ff12

I’m not sure how real this is, the reason I say this is because it all sounds too good to be true. It’s almost as if it’s made up by a fan that knows what the fans want so has said it all in this “interview”

However I do really hope it’s real.

Im thinking it may be fake, I mean how can this game be 50 hours or more, considering the final boss is meant to be Jenova Birth according to the interview, and that time isn't counting side content.

That's what makes me think it's fake because in recent history the Final Fantasy games have been short, both Final Fantasy 13-2 and Final Fantasy 15 I beat in 25-35 hours.

Yeah you’re right, my whole playthrough of the original FFVII was around 50 hours. Sonfor this to be 50+ hours to jenova birth is weird unless they’ve added a lot of new stuff when ch is very possible.

How the hell can they make a 40 hour game into three 50 hour games?

They will be adding crisis core story in aswell and exploring stuff that wasn't in the original most likely.
