Switch is handheld, home console or hybrid?

Handheld. 20 18.02%

Home console. 5 4.50%

Hybrid. 86 77.48%

Total:111

It is a hybrid in general, but a handheld at its core. For multiplat games, the big draw to get them is the portability. If not for that, there would be no reason if you owned the other consoles. For that reason, and due to the fact that it is streamlined just like any other handheld, I will always see it as a handheld that you can play as a console. Sure you can use it on the TV when the time is available, but the main purpose of the system is to play on the go.

Now some might use it as Nintendo's next big console for Nintendo games, in which case they never use portable mode and only buy exclusives.  Heck some people might have it as their only current gen gaming machine and buy third party games on it as well.  In this sense, it would be a console. These people are the vast minority however.

So to reiterate, it is a hybrid by design, but a handheld at its core.

Neither. It's a vegan sandwich.

Hunting Season is done...

This is the Nintendo Switch Console. Nothing more than that. That's were every component that powers the device and makes it work is located. I think no one will dare to say otherwise. The dock is an accesory, and is sold as such.

Does it look like a home console to you? Well, if you say "no"... that's because it's not. Everything in this device screams "portable". It has a screen, its internals are designed for portable machines, it has a battery that allows it to not have to be plugged all the time... to TAKE IT WITH YOU. It uses storage commonly used in portable devices for both internal and external (micro sd cards/switch game cards).

The fact that you can plug the PORTABLE CONSOLE to the TV doesn't make it a home console. Because then, my iPad would a home device, my PSP would be a home console and my MP3 would be a home music device.

I use it docked and in hand held mode equally

I use it about equally for both handheld and home console. When I want to sit down on a couch with my projector and surround sound, I go console mode, but if I just want to walk or move around the house (or watch something on a computer) or go in the car somewhere, handheld. It truly is a wonderful convenient device.

I use it like 75% of the time docked and the rest handheld but yeah it's definitely a hybrid regardless of what people say. I'm actually surprised it's used more as a handheld though cause at least 3 or 4 of the games I've played feel like they need a proper controller and TV.

So this is a reactionary thread to your discussion with NATO?

I think you both were pretty thorough with your arguments in my thread, so i will link it here for everyone to see:

Difference with Switch compared to your iPad or PSP, or MP3 is a fact that Switch in docked mode act like real home console, when Switch is in docked it's basically like any other home console on market.

Nothing that couldnt be done with a software update, as we all know the Switch cradle is nothing more than an HDMI adapter.
