Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo Switch Makes the List on Time's 25 Best Inventions of 2017

''In one form, it’s a handheld tablet, allowing a single user to game on the go. In another, two controllers slide off from the sides, allowing multiple users to get in on the action. Once they get home, they can slide that tablet into a docking station and continue playing on a legitimate home console. ''

More mainstream awareness for Nintendo Seeing the console next to revolutions such as the anti-pollutant filter, the Mars InSight and Tesla Model 3 warms my heart.

Well, the impact and popularity of them are undeniable.

Did other consoles and handhelds made it on the list at their release year?

I was like... really? In the same list as the InSight? But oh well, it's not the ''25 Most Useful Inventions'' but rather how they gained traction and are significant in their respective domain

In 2013, no sight of PS4 and XBOne. Only the Oculus Rift.

Pffft, screw video games.

*sells Nintendo Switch to buy a massive fidget spinner collection*

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Reads more like a list of products rather than inventions. Though I guess that depends on what you consider inventions. Very few of the items listed fit into what I'd call inventions at least.

What would you call inventions?

Most inventions serve for mass consumption these days. Even the Tesla car, which was considered as a game-changer back when the original model was introduced, is now breaking in mainstream markets.

"Handheld Tablet"

facepalm

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
