The key thing I see here is a bunch of people talking crap about someone else's experience. Maybe the OP should be more concerned with what he's enjoying rather than worrying about bringing someone else down. The Switch is pretty amazing in all aspects and I've been nothing but happy/impressed since launch. The fact that the games have been down right amazing only helps the situation. Best of luck OP in living in a world where our happiness isn't predicated on your approval.

Im back guys, i dont know why some of you are being so defensive about it.

The examples i gave at the beginning of the OP (Battery and Doom) were just that, examples.

My favorite reply of this thread is from Slarvax.

Can you at least give sources for your examples? Even better if you can find some that are from the same person.

The Switch is a handheld that play current gen console caliber games thay can be hooked up to the TV.

The 3 hr battery life is not that far off from the VITA, shame on those who try say it is not a handheld because of that. And the way I see it, I played my Switch for 1.5 hours waiting for work to start, half an hour during break, and another half hour waiting for my stepson to get out of school so I could pick him up. Never needed a charger and had time to spare. And if I needed, I can always plug it in jist like any handheld.

Thats how I have always seen it, because that is what it is.

I dont think ive ever played a handheld for more than 3 hours straight and if i did i definitely had the ability to charge it at some point.

So even though the battery life is far from amazing, for 99% of people 3-5 hours is plenty for gaming and a non issue.

Rol, with all due respect.

You have almost Sixty Thousand comments on this site.

You know which group falls into my description.

Yes, Nintendo fanboys. But you must realize that when you make a thread to call out fanboys of only one company, you will come across as a fanboy yourself.

By the way, Slarvax forgot to account for Switch's tie ratio which is matching the pace of a home console, so his conclusion is wrong.

True, true.

So it's fair to say the Switch is matching all the good trends of Nintendo handhelds and home consoles?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I don't really understand the purpose of this thread... I haven't really any of these comments on the web. I thought Doom on Switch was 720p, but 540, and the comment about calling the Switch a handheld seems to be said more in general, rather than the Nintendo fanbase. These comments just seem like a false generalization of a core base.

I'm sure the 3 hour battery life will improve with a later revision. It's one part of the Switch specification that likely will improve next year. The 20nm fabrication process is already old and they may actually be forced to a superior fabrication process because of lack of 20nm manufacturing capacity and pricing.

Not sure about that. The different 3DS models have different battery life, but it is no direct progression, it jumps around.

If memory serves, the later 3DS has a larger capacity battery but it's offset by the higher power consumption for those models too

Because your examples are nonsense that pratically nobody has used.

People have defended battery life but not for the reason you gave, they have defended it because 3-5 hours is all that anyone should expect out of a modern portable device playing high performance games. 3DS, Vita, smartphones & tablets all have a similar battery life to Switch when playing demanding games.

Regardless of handheld or console, Switch is a fraction of the size and has a fraction of the power of a PS4/XBO. Nobody should expect similar performance on Switch for a game like Doom. Most people were surprised that it even got ported to Switch and the fact that it actually runs pretty well is impressive.

Most people dont consider Switch exclusively a home console or a handheld. The majority of people see it for what it is, a hybrid device that acts as both so nobody should be making illogical comparisons such as "PS home consoles vs Nintendo home consoles" to draw concusions.

People are getting defensive because you are generalizing an entire fanbase and your examples are stupid.

LMAO

My examples are stupid, but LITERALLY you replied this to me when i posted the sales of Playstation Consoles vs Nintendo Consoles:

"Switch is a handheld as well so just using home consoles for your comparison doesnt make sense.

GB-118 million

GBA-82 million

DS-155 million

3DS-70 million"

Falling exactly in the main point of this thread.

You lack any sort of comprehension

"Switch is a handheld AS WELL so just using home consoles for your comparison makes no sense"

Thats me telling you its both a handheld and a console so you cant just use one aspect for comparisons, you have to  factor in both.
