*3 Hours of Battery Life is Very Poor for the Nintendo Switch*

A: That's because the Switch is a Console. 3 Hours is great for a Home Console!

*Doom at 540p/30fps is Very Underwhelming*

A: That's because the Switch is a Handheld. 540p/30fps is great for a Handheld Console!

*Playstation Consoles usually end up selling more than Nintendo Consoles*

A: Why don't you compare it with the Gameboy family? The Switch is a Handheld!

These are some examples that I've seen around the web.

What do you guys think? Is it valid to have it both ways?

Everybody who has interacted with a Nintendo fan knows what i'm talking about, they usually Switch (Pun intended) the narrative to fit their arguments, changing between the Handheld and Console nature of the console.

No one ever said "3 hours is good for a home console". The battery is basically the same as normal 3DS. It could be better, but people manage.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Starting a thread with the thesis Nintendo fans prevaricate is probably not a great way to launch a thoughtful debate.

Maybe something like "Should the Switch be judged as a console or a handheld or both" without indicting Nintendo fans as a legion of goal-post movers.

Nah youre just ignorant.

Why is this even a thing? All I ever hear about the Switch is positivity. It's not like this is a poor thing like the Wii U that people don't like or something, this is quite a widely appreciated and highly successful console.

I agree! But this is not what the thread is about.

Do you expect serious discussion when you make a troll/flamebait thread?

As a Switch owner I'll give you another argument for doom.

On portable mode the game looks and plays really, really well. It looks much better when you're playing it than it looks in vids that compare it mostly to other console versions.

I don't play Switch much on tv but I'm sure it looks muddy and almost unplayable. A sacrifice very much worth it for me as I only wanted Switch as a handheld.

Nintendo more or less blew up the definition of handheld and console so the arguments seem to be valid. Unless Nintendo says it falls 100% in one of these categories, it will likely remain so.
