Hynad is right, there are tons of non super hero movies released every single week.

Problem is movie goers are only interested in the big spectacular blockbusters that get massive marketing, so they have the impresion that superhero movies are half of what cinema has to offer right now, if they were really interested on cinema they would realize its quite a minority actually and if they stopped paying to watch so many superhero movies then probably Hollywood would be investing more time and money in blockbusters with new ideas.

I just saw it today. It's entertaining, and therefore I'd say it's a good movie. Way more pleasing to watch than Blade Runner 2049.

That said, the acting was absolutely awful with the exception of the Wonderwoman character. She was definitely the highlight for me. Batman was cringeworthy, and Superman was like, a joke.

There were some funny bits and that kinda saved it for me. The action scenes were really good. But I can definitely see why some more experienced critics would have a hard time. Art-wise, it's total rubbish. But if you're looking for a good time, especially with your kids, it's pretty good.

I totally hated BvS and SS, but I liked this one a heck of a lot more.  Yes, it has its flaws and sometimes feels a little bit rushed, but I genuinely had a good time watching it.  And everybody at the theatre where I saw it was actually clapping at the end. So it looks like most people at least enjoyed it.

I think the critics are being way too harsh on this one.

@OP, it's honestly about time. DC's films have ranged from mediocre to legitimately one of the worst films I've ever seen, yet they continue to make gangbusters just off the brand alone without actually doing to characters themselves the slightest bit of justice. Wonder Woman is  a bit of an exception, but even that, I feel, was only good "for a DC film," because it actually had basic building blocks like "character development," "plot," and a "message" unlike the other turds they'd put out before it.

Agreed with the first sentence, the cinema has much, much more to offer besides superhero movies. Disagreed with the last part, at least with the generalization that every superhero movie is the same and doesn't have new ideas. It's a genre, so a movie that represents that genre could be innovative or not. 

Actually, superhero movies is a genre that I pretty much enjoy so I'm glad that this "boom" happened. Why? I find them pretty entertaining to see, some of them are thematically rich and interesting. And at least with the MCU there's a pretty good character development which makes you invested in those characters, something the DCEU is totally... unaware of. 

But, well, I can understand that people who don't like superhero movies might be totally tired about them XD. But I honestly feel that there's some films of this genre that could be enjoy from people who don't normally like these movies. The Dark Knight was probably a movie which was loved for people who doesn't really care about superheroes. Seeing Thor: Ragnarok recently, I feel that it's a movie that can also be enjoyed if you dislike the genre and like the comedy bits. 

But I have never said they are all the same or suggested they are worthless. Is not really a genre, it's a subgenre that is getting too much representation in the mainstream cinema as of lately, at least for my taste, I would rather see other kinds of projects instead of yet another movie about Wolverine for example, however I would be lying if I said I wasn't surprised by Logan, I definitely was and I have really liked some superhero movies (Dark knight, Watchmen, Avengers, Civil War, First Class, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy....) but is getting to a point where for most people going to cinema is almost a synonim of going to see a movie about someone with superpowers, with the infinite amount of possibilities that cinema can offer is mindblowing how half of the big mainstream movies now are all about that.

I thought BvS was a real mixed bag of trying to do too much and I wasn't crazy about the tone or interpretation of Superman.

Suicide Squad just felt like a mess of a film that did nothing for me.

I adore Wonder Woman even if the end played it safe.

Justice League is a solid movie that felt like a soft reboot in tone.  I really noticed the color and brightness being cranked up.  Its main flaws are a very by the numbers plot and feeling a bit rushed.  They got Wonder Woman and Superman right for me though, so helped it immensely in my estimation.

BvS - 5/10, SS - 2/10, WW - 9/10, JL - 7/10

I went to see Blade Runner 2049 opening weekend and there were maybe 8 other people in there to see the best big budget movie I've seen all year.

Every super hero movie I see opening week has at least 30+ other people in the showing I watch.

Studios respond to market trends so when a slower, thoughtful, beautiful science fiction film with huge actors, massive budget and effects, and skilled director gets rave reviews and will be lucky to break even they won't make another one anytime soon.  I don't blame the industry for catering to its audience, I support what i like and pass on ones that don't interest me. 

I really don't get people saying they all of a sudden got superman right.

What did they do in this movie that they didn't in others? Lets go over Superman in this movie. Spoilers below obviously.

1. Cell Footage of Superman talking to kids after saving stuff. (Stands around looking heroic and not answering questions. Is this it?)

2. First scene is his resurrection. He is evil. He fights the league and threatens to kill Batman. (Clearly Superman right)

3. Next scene is Farm scene. Scene looked identical to a dozen scenes from MoS/BvS. (According to you, he was not superman in those movies, so it can't be here that we finally see superman.)

4. Shows up for final fight. Makes a cheesy entrance saying "Truth, I believe in truth, and Justice" Then he just beats the shit out of Steppenwolf easily. During fight leaves to save some people. He did that in Man of Steel as well. Oh and he makes a joke about wanting to die after splitting boxes. 

5. We see clark run into ally and rip open his shirt to fly off and save stuff. (I assume this one 3 second scene is what your talking about) Though why didn't his montage of saving stuff in BvS not count?

6. Superman races Flash.

So what was it that made him so much more Supermany in this movie?

That face when Supes ask...do you bleed. Bizzaro.....
