Two things:

Can someone describe what "blades" are in the game? I was thinking of getting this but haven't played any of the previous in the series.

Can someone actually post a picture here of the offending characters? I'm getting the sense that they are completely naked and probably involved in an orgy.

Sword waifus I think.

Also, cannot post pictures because the characters are completely naked and involved in a demon-possessed orgy. We're talking XXX material here.

Blades is a new thing in the Xenoblade series.

Think of them kind of like a being that imbues their powers onto their user. They appear to have some sort of humanoid or animalistic form that you see following around the character they are bonded to. But they also have their weapon form that the person uses in combat, whether it be a sword, scythe, axe, shield, ect.

Beyond granting the user a physical weapon to fight with, they also give them special abilities in fighting.

Have you ever read the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson. They kind of remind me of the Spren in those books.

Here's an ad for Xenoblade Chronicles 2:

And some people will still claim they use waifus to promote the game.

What kind of logic is that? They've shown off the "waifus" in almost every trailer imaginable. It's not they're going to show waifus in a North American television ad. this is literally one of  the dumbest comments I think I've ever read.

But I also think that it's possible the characters are just clothed like that because that was part of the developer's artistic vision. Just saying, if someone wanted to argue against you, they'd have an easy case to make.

I laughed at the character designs.

I don't mind, personally, but I also don't mind nuking Japan over Eromanga-Sensei and Umaru-chan (and a second season?!) existing.

Don't hate on Umaru! >:(

So non-human?  It would personally take a lot for that to annoy me, then. But to each their own. Would still like to see an actual picture of what everyone is so up in arms over, though.

You do realize such a TV ad reaches a far bigger audience than all those game trailers combined?

And what trailers are you even talking about?

No one is going nuts. Once again, 'minor, but annoying' is what I said.

Of course it does, but what company like Nintendo actually tries to reach a general audience by showing fanservice on TV?

The argument from people has rarely ever been that sexualizing characters is meant to advertise the games on TV, the argument has almost always been for nearly every game that sexualizing characters is a subtle marketing tactic to broaden the games appeal or get people to buy the game. For people who believe this, it's a subtle marketing tactic mostly targeted as a gaming audience. Not the kind of thing you'd just show on TV.

I seem to remember pretty clearly that one of the first trialers for the game had a part that subtly emphasized Pyra in a perverted way, but honestly like I said, I'm not for the argument that Monolith or Nintendo are sexualizing characters to advertise the game. I don't care if they are, I've never cared, and it's arguable that they aren't. I'm just pointing out that, if someone who held the opposite view as you wanted to argue that they were, your original comment would in no way contradict their statement.
