Switch because it will be the first console to penetrate China and that will more than offset any obstacles it has in Europe.

The problem is that you are saying it has to sell well in one market because Sony does well in that market. Again, if you look at Sony's Japan numbers, they are awful, so they need to do well in Europe if the system is to sell well. Nintendo doesn't have this because it dominates Japan and does well in the US. Again, Nintendo isn't doing bad in Europe and I think this is the misconception people are making. Europe's importance is being overemphasized because Sony does really well there. Nintendo will easily have a 15-25 million gain over Sony from Japan alone. If you look at it holistically, then you'd see that Nintendo progress in other regions more than makes up for a perceived lacking in Europe.

The Switch with 25M gain on the PS4 in Japan? So you think it will sell more than the DS?

best case scenario is 15 million ahead in japan, 25 million is ridiculous.

I’m curious to see how it performs. I look at the average annual income in China and the Switch seems out of reach for most of them. The middle class is huge but even they make less than half of the US’s middle class.

The Switch has sold around 500k more units in Japan than the PS4 in 2017. Even if you double it that's 1 million consoles. How is it ever going to get 15-25 million more than the PS4?

Meanwhile the PS4 has sold 3 million more units in Europe than the Switch. Even if you subtract 1 million since PS4 has January/February sales that the Switch doesn't have then it's still 2-4 times more than the gap that the Switch has over the PS4 in Japan.

Europe has sold 9 million consoles total so far in 2017 and Japan has sold 4.6 million consoles total so far in 2017. Europe holds twice as much importance because its twice as big as Japan in terms of market size.

I don’t want to get involved with this thread, but I would just like to point out that the Switch is still severely supply constrained in Japan, and is selling whatever is shipped there.

It's been 8 months (6 months on the charts) since the launch. The supply constraint excuse can only last so long. And that's why I doubled the current Japan gap from 500k to 1m.

It’s not an excuse when it is happening, I mean there is literally a thread about the situation on the front page right now. And that gap will keep on increasing for the rest of the year.
