*Wipes tear from eye* Normally I ignore your posts because we don't get along. But Goddamnit, I'm so fucking happy you decided to give this series a shot!

IMO Etrian Odyssey IV is much better. It has an open explorable world with an airship. You can cross class allowing your character to have access to half the skill points of another class. You can send a single party member out to grind alone, letting you catch up in levels with other party members. There's an item you can buy that keeps low level monsters away from your party. There's a few more classes overall.

You forgot something ... the music *drools*

Probably is the best soundtrack of any EO

Agreed. The Jazzy music of EO V is pretty good too though.

I want to get FE Echoes at some point but haven't gotten around to it...
I haven't finished dates and I don't know that I have the motivation to do so...
I have been playing Metroid though, and it has surpassed my expectations...
If you've put off playing it for any reason, you're making a huge mistake...

Have a nice day...

Was still finishing up in FE Fates and Pokemon Moon, then of course I always go back to New Leaf every so often. The free to play Kirby game was really great fun aswell, but other than that I've not played any other 3DS games this year, Switch has taken all my attention since I got it. That'll change once I get FE Echoes for $25-$30 come black friday, but I think I'll be pretty much done with the 3DS afterwards.

Currently I'm focusing on Monster Hunter Stories, the best MH.

Got a lot of games this year, Shadows of Valentia, Samus Returns, Hey Pikmin, Mario & Luigi, Lady Layton, etc.

Don't even ask me about my backlog

And I'm planning on picking up Ultra S/M.

Currently I'm not playing any 3DS game, but once I'm less occupied I will start playing Bravely Second.

I bought a lot of games this year, DQ8 was the first one, Fire Emblem SoV special edition, Ever Oasis, Metroid Samus returns special edition, Hey Pikmin, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, puzzles and dragons super Mario edition, pokemon Y, omega ruby, moon, Persona Q, and one of two more I can't remember now. I'm close to finishing DQ7 (really long game), and playing puzzles and dragons Mario edition from time to time. I still plan to buy pokemon UM, Mario and Luigi SS + Bowser's minions, Radiant Historia and the Alliance Alive next year, maybe the new Kirby, and hoping for DQ11 to come to America, that 2D/3D art style is simply beautiful!

Yes! Someone who is still interested in the machine How does Dragon Quest 7 fair? There are so many JRPGs I get to "get into" the genre and I rarely get far to them. DQ7 ... to be honest the intro was so long I had a hard time getting into the game. Have you played 8? I heard it's way better and that the remaster, as well as base game, is far better. So now i'm curious if I should just move onto 8 or ... lol.

It is in *ahem* certain places.

Without spoiling anything, it's playing like a polished version of S/M, it's 80% the exact same game as S/M, but they seem to have heeded comments about overbearing handholding so far. It's still there, but much more bearable (leans more towards BW's overt signposting rather than S/M's visual novel-level of restrictiveness.)

Events are slightly tweaked from S/M, but the map, the events, the trials (not the totems themselves though) and the battles are 85% the same. Think Yellow/Crystal/Platinum rather than B2/W2; third-game/polished version of the originals, not a sequel. (Then again, I'm only three islands in, haven't hit the meaty bit of the story yet, so that may change).

I'm enjoying it much more than I did X/Y or S/M, a solid 8.75/10 from me, hoping the Rainbow Rocket stuff can lift that score higher.

Would you say it's worth picking up for your casual Pokemon fan that's played Moon? I've only played Omega Ruby and Moon, and both left me kind of wanting more out of the games. I liked both a lot but they were more like a novelty than a great experience.

I have a solid library of 3DS games, but I havent touched my 3DS since we got the Switch at launch. The last game I played was Yoshi and Poochy's woolly world.

What games do you have?

Also, I am kind of at a dillema. I'm wondering if I should eventually buy stuff like Yoshi and Poochy's Wooly World and Donkey Kong Country Returns on 3DS, or if I should just wait and see if they get a Switch VC.

Well, off the top of my head, Animal Crossing New Leaf, MarioKart 7, Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2 (the best nsmb game, imo) , Sun/Moon, Zelda ALBW, Kirby Planet Robobot, Fire Emblem fates relevations and awakening, mario maker, and more. Now, its mostly my Pokemon machine. I gave away Pokemon X/Y and ORAS because there was no going back after I statrted playing Sun/Moon.

I havent touched some of these games in years, and some of their switch counterparts leave zero reason to back (like MarioKart 8-Deluxe, Mario Odyssey)

Well, for me going back to from the Switch to 240p 3DS was jarring, so I would suggest waiting for Yoshi 2018 and virtual console.

And if you were left wanting more out Sun/Moon, chances are the same thing will happen with Ultra sun/Moon.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Fire Emblem Echoes, Fire Emblem Fates, and Samus Returns. Also been chipping away at Ace Attorney 2..slowly but surely.

Probably some other games I'm forgetting...but these are the main ones. Hoping to finish Dragon Quest VIII, SMT: Strange Journey, 7th Dragon, and Stella Glow next year, but we'll see.

I Absolutely love the 3ds. Bought a switch and still haven't played it that much, now I'm Gonna buy Super Mario Oddisey and that will change everything. Don't play DQ7, it's strictly for fans of the franchise. It's quite long and repetitive, I'm loving it so far but I accept it's not a game for anyone. 8 is much more recommendable. I'm 75 hours in on 7, and it seems I still have 20 to 30 hours ahead to finish it... After this I'll play either Hey Pikmin or Metroid SR, I need an action oriented game after so much reading lol.

Same! Well .. I'd say I spent more time on Switch, but just because of the length of the games. It actually kind of sucks because I've mostly been getting into the 3DS this year with Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Fire Emblem Awakening, so now I have a million titles to buy! Should have played it more when I first got it

And that sucks to hear about Dragon Quest. Guess I bought the wrong game first! It's odd because I seem to remember everyone hyping up 7 and not 8, but afterwords it seems people don't recommend 7 to newcomers and care more about 8. Thanks for the help!

I'm glad that I can be one of those who's able to juggle between his systems.

To make it short, this year I've been playing FE Echoes, Ever Oasis, Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice, Kirby Blowout Blast and Team Kirby Clash, Metroid Samus Returns and I'm right now on Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga DX ! 've been plenty busy, see ?

Now, there's still 2 games I plan to buy for the console. Etrian Odyssey V and Shin Megami Tensei SJ Redux.

As for the 2nd question, I do have a fairly 10 games waiting to played in my backlog and at least 4/5 of them to be finished or completed.

Same! I luckily have the time to play both : P An those are some nice games ya got there! I might eventually pick up Superstar Saga, and Samus returns is definitely on my radar!

This is a game's forum. Games will bring us together !!!

Oh shit, Etrian Odyssey V doesn't have the airship? Lol! That's kind of why I wanted to get it. I thought it had it like 4. Oh well. The great thing about the 3DS is that it has pretty much every Etrian title, so if I like 5 enough I could just buy Untold 1-2, 3 and 4! Thank you Atlus lol

Nice! I have a decent collection but it could definitely get bigger.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully Pokemon Switch revolutionizes the games.

Only 3DS game I beat this year was Metroid Samus Returns.

I plan to start Persona Q soon, and some games I plan to get next year include SMT Strange Journey Redux, and Persona Q2.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

None, most 3DS games released this year sucked.
