Just found this video randomly on YouTube. Basically, if you have a disc version of The Witcher 3 and you don't patch it, you'll experience it in 60 fps. The 30 cap was introduced later.

This is why I need to hurry up and play my 2017 backlog. This game looks great and on my PC it runs at ultra at 70-90. Beautiful game, sad that the update makes it 30.

The cap was necessary on the ps4 and xbox one. Just jumped around way too much.
Yeah, you need to play this game. It's my gotg so far.

I actually got very far, similar to Witcher 1. Can a person be a "psuedo expert" in a franchise if they've basically completed all the games :p XD
Jk. I did so many side quests that I think I was only like 65% done with it. It was such a great game. Ironically, playing it at 30fps is what stopped me from enjoying it. The PS4 version just feels off. So good for Xbox One X owners !

Just play it on pc? Surely you can pick up a copy cheap now.
Witcher 1 is the only one I haven't played. I would love too... Just need a capable pc.

It is missing quite a few UI and graphical updates though if you did choose to play it this way. Some people prefer fps over resolution, this could be a tempting option for them.
Its a shame if they don't offer an unlocked frame rate option.
But a more stable 30 fps and potential and perhaps 4K isn't bad either. I Imagine the dynamic resolution will range from 1800p to 2160p.
In theory any 900p or higher game should be 4K on X1. But developers aren't hitting it as well as MS 1st party.

I'm anxiously awaiting the digital foundry video on the Witcher 3 too. I don't know when the patch is supposed to drop but CD project red don't seem capable of half assing anything. I expect quite an excellent X1X port.
