Forums - Gaming Discussion - Console gamers, why do you feel console gaming is better than PC?

Skyrim VR is one good reason! Just had another epic session with no interruptions, no graphics tweaking, no wondering if the settings could be better or whether the fps might drop with too much oversampling. No worries of slowdown with certain effects, it just works. No messing with mods, ini files, controller configurations, 100% fully immersive play time.

Gaming is more relaxing when you stop worrying how you could make it look a little better or what you can tweak or add to the experience. Console gaming, the solution to the paradox of choice.

Yeah, Skyrim has been a poster child of good performance with all console versions... no slowdowns whatsoever ;)

No worries of having slowdowns after fucking up the settings due to bad tweaking, you get them right out of the box without tweaking and learn to live with them on some consoles.

Help me understand, who's done this? I've yet to see a PC-only person attacking anyone.

The first few pages here are full of these comments of people trying to argue a bunch of posts where users are answering the questions. The OP asked for the opinion of console gamers, there's no point in PC-only gamers to try to quote and discuss the personal opinion of people that prefer to play on consoles. That's just attempts to disrupt the thread.

I won't point fingers at specific users because that's probably against forum rules, but they are just there on most pages trying to argue everyone who (blasfemy) thinks that playing a console is better than playing on PC.

Skyrim was indeed one of the worst performing games on ps3 last gen. Yet did I spend a single minute on trying to fix it or tweaking settings? Nope, just turned the map autosave off which solved a lot of the problems and finished my 70 hour playthrough, playing the game.

It's still a Bethesda game, the VR version has already crashed on me once, glitched through stairs, lighting all screwed up at one point (quick save reload fixed it). What's the track record of Bethesda games on PC...

The game is still chock-full of loot boxes though, really frigging big ones in VR lol. How did they carry those massive chests in there!

Comes down to the easy answer of not wanting to spend another $700+ on a computer just for gaming. I don't know why PC hard liners don't understand that.
I got the extra cash for one dedicated gaming platform and I am pretty much always gonna go with ol Nintendo so I can play their 1st party games.

Don't get me wrong I like the idea of owning a sweet PC rig to play every game at maximum setting but as the lesson has been going on since the daes of NES, the most powerful system to play games on isn't always the best.

I make due with my laptop for less taxing games:. FTL, Civ 5, Mount and Blade, Rim World. All those kinds of games that just aint happening gracefully on consoles. (curious how Mount and Blade fares on consoles...)

also....while I see the advantage of playing an FPS with mouse control, It just feels way more satisfying to me to sit back in a comfy lounge spot holding a controller (or two joy cons so I can melt into a slime pit)

While I'm not trying to sway your vote, the constant attack on the sig and saying things like, "you don't like a console peasant exposing PC flaws", are just a few of the reasons why this continues to head South. So let's try to stay away from stuff like that.

Fair enough.

As you say it's "one of the reasons" the aggressive sig is a reason too, the person pretending to be neutral with such a sig is another and perhaps the main reason is my first post on this thread, totally ON-topic and that person not liking that and as a consequence debating with me about it which I am totally fine to do cause I don't mind listening to the other side of the argument. Which to make a long story short is why I am like: Oh you don't like me being on-topic about why I prefer consoles over PC? Ok but fair is fair so let's talk about your sig...

But yeah, I agree, things are going a bit south so I'm done arguing with that person. He knows what I think and I know what he thinks so that's probably the end of the argument

Getting myself and the family around the tv and on the couch just isn't practical for PC. The PC for me is for MMOs. Or personal Single player games that make sense on PC.

Games. What other reason would I need?

Of course I can add price, physical games, hardware that stays up to date for 6 years, etc.

I used to play PC a bunch for some of my favorite genres but big publishers and devs have ruined many of those favorite games.

As a person who has a gaming PC and a PS4/Switch I would have to say I prefer console. PC is my go to for strategy and MMOs and such but from just about anything else it is PS4 and now Switch I guess if I think I want it available on the go (and because Nintendo 1st party games are amazing).

My reason for preferring console is cost and simplicity. I have a 1500 dollar gaming rig and yet when a new game comes out I find it takes me hours to finally figure out what settings work best and what drivers I need, and what settings my drivers need to be at. I guess some people enjoy that part but for me I enjoy just putting the disc in (and these days waiting on a day 1 patch) and then playing it.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I don't feel that consoles are better than PC gaming, nor could they ever be my main gaming platform.

Both sides have arguments.

Console wise - first party support, buying pre-made hardware easy set up, early release date games

PC wise - Forward Compatibility, cheaper digital prices/better deals, free online MP

Neither is better or worse than the other, both have strengths and weaknesses.

Though for me the primary reason to get a console is for First party support.

Succinctly put.

I find it difficult to take anyone seriously if they insist that one side is unequivocally better than the other in the discussion about consoles vs. PC. Both sides cater well to different kinds of gamers, and I try to include a mix of both in my life (although I've been more console lately because Switch has seen a lot of really great games this year).
