Locked: Software Adjustments Announcement

Forums - Website Topics - Software Adjustments Announcement

So, great news.

Some of you will already be aware of this but most of you won't (I wanted to keep it pretty under wraps until it had been fully tested and any issues resolved) - the other day TalonMan finished building a software adjustment tool for me (no hardware one yet, he's going to work on it very soon).

Anyone who’s come to me to point out software under or overtracks over the course of the now two years(!) I’ve been doing the weekly software charts knows I haven’t been able to adjust them myself because the functionality simply didn’t exist. Having to pass those adjustment requests on to Brett and pester him to get them done was a huge pain in the ass – one that only got worse as time went on and meant that most games simply never got adjusted no matter how much I wanted them too :(

But now that’s going to be a thing of the past. I can do those adjustments myself, and have been putting the tool through its paces. At the bottom of this post I’ll list the titles I’ve already made adjustments to, but there will be quite literally thousands of adjustments to do overall, so it’s going to be a very long term project for me, and users will be able to help me by indetifying titles in need of adjustments. More on that to follow soon – I’ll create a thread specifically for it, with some groundrules and what have you, and will use it to keep everyone updated on the titles that have been adjusted, so don't post them in this thread please.

This thread is just to make everyone aware that adjustments can and now will be made moving forwards. The only caveat is the adjustments I make unfortunately won’t fully show on the public-facing charts and game pages until the end of each full week – there’s no way around that for now, so we just have to live with it.

I’ll also take this opportunity to formally announce that Boutros is joining TrunksWD and myself on the sales team, thanks to the effort he’s put into the sales threads over the months and years and in helping me with identifying titles in need of adjustments. Sometime soon Talon will add Sales Team tags to the list of site tags/roles, to help identify those who can be approached to ask about adjustments or anything else related to the sales side of the site.

Titles adjusted in the first wave (the focus is on France for now – don’t ask me why I picked France first, I’ve no idea, but I intend to do every country we track eventually. Next up will be Germany I think. All games listed below have been adjusted in France and untracked European countries, unless otherwise stated. Where the platform hasn’t been identified it’s because several platforms had their figures adjusted):

This is great news!! I am glad that we'll be getting more accurate numbers!

That's awesome news! Thanks to TalonMan for the tool and to you for putting the time in to tackle this monumental task. Hopefully once the backlog is done it won't be as time consuming.

Signature goes here!

Great news! Nice to see some positive & exciting changes

Congratulations on your new tool. And thank you very much to all of you, for your hard work.

I greatly appreciate your efforts and transparency. Good step forward.

That is great news. Thanks for all your hard work Talonman on creating the tool and Machina for making all the adjustments. Once the hardware adjustment tool is done I will get cracking on those.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

...you're next - I promise!!!

Just wanted to start a few site updates here and there, first - I'm circling back to you next, though.  ;)

Boutros getting a position on the staff and getting to officially contribute with this site is probably the best piece of news I've ever heard about VGChartz.

Also, if you guys can also fix the database eventually, that would be fucking awesome.

Thanks for all the hard work, guys.
