Forums - General Discussion - Do you answer the door at 8pm?

Tagged games:

If I'm at home, I generally always answer my door. Only exceptions would be if I'm in the shower, or I have headphones on and can't hear.

Reading threads like these with people saying they have baseballbats and stuff next to their doors and that they'd be afraid to answer the door at 8 pm makes me realize how lucky I am to live in such a peaceful country as Norway. To me, the idea of being too afraid to answer the door without any apparent cause for that fear just seems... strange. It just doesn't happen here.

Do you live on the countryside or in a city?

It's not a city in the international meaning of the word, but it's certainly not the countryside. 7 thousand people living pretty densely packed (population density > 2000 inhabitants/square kilometre)

I think villages and smaller towns like these are pretty safe. However, in big cities I wouldn't feel very safe. Everyone can easily reach your house if you live in a city, and the number of bad guys (or drunk people) is probably a lot higher too.

The only people who knock on my door unexpected are Jehovah Witnesses who come around every few weeks in the morning usually before noon. Oh shit they might be coming around again... Gotta hide

If you live in a safe city like say Tokyo, there's little reason not to. Last time it happened to me it was a neighbor asking if I was planning on using my booked appointment in the laundromat.

No way.  You'd think it would be a Canadian city or something.  Hell they don't even lock their doors up north.

Well Christmas is coming and delivery drivers are out pretty late. If you hear a knock and you've ordered something, it might be UPS, FedEx, or DHL with a delivery.

Source: Drive for FedEx.

My friend actually leaves the door open way into the nightly hours, for his cats.

Might be better having a dog/cat door for that.  Although Asians are pretty small and they might be able to squeeze through that anyways.  Like Hangover 3 I believe.

They only included the bigger cities.
