Well ... that's why I asked for clarification. It seemed a 'broader' statement that just NPD.

He said that Switch has beat PS4 for most of the year. That's true in the United States, but not worldwide. Since this is an NPD thread, the context suggests that he's talking about the US.

I think you've overestimated the PS4's position in the US. It's only a moderate amount ahead of the X1, and its victories have in large part been because of decline from its competition. It's sold well, but unless it has some amazing legs it's likley going to end up behind not only NA's 7th gen leader, but all the way at 4th (it's currently at 22m on VGC, and needs to hit 45m to hit 3rd place).

November is gonna be a fun one to watch. But man, Switch is doing great, and it is just now hitting the holiday Season. It's also killing it on Amazon US, along with Odyssey in Software. Congrats Nintendo!

Perhaps. In any case, switch seems to have North America in the bag for the foreseeable future. Although Xbox should comfortably take November due to X. December is a toss up. 

NPD = US. After this year, I see a much more even, competition between Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft will probably taper off after the X hype wears off. Although I still see Nintendo winning more than Sony. Ps5 could change that in a couple of years. 

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I'm not discounting the possibility of the Switch eventually winning WW monthly sales but I can't completely get on board with the idea just yet. There are many factors to take into consideration. Switch is the newest console on the block and represents a 'true' next gen entry by Nintendo. This is one of the biggest reasons it's doing so well along with a great idea and finally getting 3rd party support. Can it be sustained? Only time will tell. Then we have to look at the PS4 and understand the price will drop at some point. We can only evaluate the results of that when it occurs. Perhaps Black Friday will give us an idea of how much that will factor in when a FULL WW price cut hits. Then we have the big PS4 exclusives hitting next year, some of which will definitely be bundled and WILL have sales implications, such as GOW or Spiderman. We'll see. I'm not discounting the Switch here, just taking my usual 'let's wait and see' stance. Too many people go crazy this time of the year (every time in fact!) and start drawing long term conclusions. We should have learned not to do this by now. 

Fact that Switch is in 4. month in a row best selling console in US, and thats best selling console in 6. from 8. months from launch, with huge stock problems, in best PS4 year until now, is very impresive.

Totally agree. I don't think this should ever be overlooked.
