Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumour: A new C&C game is perhaps underway at EA, based on this german article

Just because Greg Black is working again at EA, it doesn't mean that he's working on a new Command & Conquer.

And, based on what EA said after cancelling Visceral's Star Wars game, I have to agree with the others, it would be microtransactions filled crap that none of us would enjoy.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

It's EA, it's guaranteed to either not happen, or become a game that revolves around MT's and always online MP based.

They had their chance back in 2012, when they merged a studio version of Bioware with Victory studios to create a new Generals game, but then after 2 years, they ended up scrapping not only the game, but the two studios as well. Their excuse was:

"Your feedback from the alpha trial is clear: We are not making the game you want to play. That is why, after much difficult deliberation, we have decided to cease production of this version of the game".

It's been years now since they cancelled the game and they've not said nor done anything about the franchise since. The way they are going about their general business design, is that they are wanting to release games that are mostly online based and heavily limited in single player content. A new always online C&C wouldn't float and they clearly dislike putting big money into SP only titles.

I'd rather put my money on the new upcoming RTS "Forged Battalion", which is being designed by both Team 17 and
the last remaining half of Westwood studios, Petroglyph. I've more faith in those two to deliver on a proper RTS than the likes of EA, which hasn't cared for the genre in years. The two teams behind Forged Battalion have even borrowed idea concepts from the cancelled generals 2 game, so they are clearly taking up on a few things EA decided to throw away.

Came to this thread for people slamming it down with lootbox related humour. I'm very satisfied.

Good old times when I liked C&C

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Now it's quite official. A remaster or new c&c game is underway, probably in order to celebrate the c&c franchise 25th birthday in 2020.

Awesome news!! Hope they don't screw it up.

Westwood is dead, the mobile game is awful, please just let the C&C/RA IP rest in peace.

I don't have any faith in any game EA is working on but I can see that the old C&C games get the Starcraft:Remastered treatment. Low effort remastered versions without new content, who are able to run on modern hardware without much hassle.

Just hope it's on PS4. I loved playing C&C back on the PS1!

I'm just curious but do you have a PC, laptop, etc.? I personally don't know a RTS on console which was neither bad nor borderline unplayable.

I'm just waiting for the day where you can't even buy their games directly anymore, you'll have to buy a lootbox and hope that a) you like the game you get, and b) you don't have it already, and of course c) if you want a specific one, be ready to shell out lots of cash as the newest release has less than 1% appearance rate

I don't trust EA to not fuck this up, via shoving MT's into it or locking it to Origin only.
