To me the X1X is the prettier of the 3 in this pile.

Proves we have vastly different aesthetics tastes. :P But that's okay.
I personally like the original Xbox console, I like the clear plastics.

The install on PS3 didn't bothered me much (even though GT5 took a good while to install), but certainly PS4 makes it a no issue for disc based (if you skip the patches).

Yeah. Sony certainly did the right thing with the PS4 in regards to installs.
Microsoft should really take note of it.

Well, different taste is good... and we do have some differences on our gaming preferences =]

a step in the good direction... to bad we know we won't go back to plug and play a disc, but certainly very close to the best we could currently get.

Is there room for one more in the club? I have mine but haven't opened it up. Will try to do so tonight and post some pictures. I didn't get a Project Scorpio edition because I wasn't sure I was even going to upgrade this year. But the trade in program for $200 for the original Xbox One was too good to pass on given no one was interested in buying it for $200 privately.

Hopefully I'll have my 4K HDR LG B7 in a week or two so that this and my PS4 Pro really get a chance to shine!

Enjoy your new gaming porn =]

Some annoyances I have had:
* No 1440P support.
* Console isn't telling me what updates are available for games unless I attempt to launch the game.
* Still hate the UI. It's just not convenient to use with the UI scrolling left, right, up and down, hidden menu's, sub-menu's and so on.
* No Kinect Port. (Yeah yeah, I know. I enjoy using the voice commands to launch apps though.)

Otherwise... It's still very much an Xbox One, with all the good and the bad baggage that goes with it.
The External Hard Drive support is still amazing, Sony and Nintendo needs to catch on... Just plugged my drive in and... Up comes 250+ games already installed.

Also... Not sure I like the texturing on the new Xbox One controllers... Or if I am just used to the launch Xbox One controllers more uniform feel, see how I go over the next few days I guess.

You can use external hard drives on PS4 as well, just btw :)

The way both use the external HD is different (besides PS4 taking way longer to allow it)

Scorpio is a lovely thing... and so solid.  Coupled it up with my 65 OLED for console gaming perfection.

Arrgghh I cant remember how to post pics here...

Enjoy your prettier textures.

Did a Xbox record that moment last night in 4k then it converted to 1080p to post. Beautiful videos now that we have the 4k option. Try it if you haven't yet.

Yeah. They can get rather lengthy.
The Pro though isn't dumping the entire optical disk contents to the hard drive, the Xbox One is, there is Pro's and Con's to both approaches I guess.

The entire disk contents are infact being "dumped" on the PS4 as well.

Not during the initial install it's not. It's literally impossible to do within mere minutes.

Do keep up. I have already elaborated on some of the big differences between external drive support.

It would be nice!

I think what Microsoft is trying to do going forward is place hooks within the OS and install procedure so you don't need to install everything, cutting the amount of data that needs to be dumped onto the hard disk in the first place is a good way to reduce install times and save drive space.

I know I'm one of those "full digital" guys but am I the only one who wishes we NEVER go back to popping in a disc and playing directly from that? I mean they're so noisy and they fail so often!

Never had a. Noisy drive and have never had a disc  drive fail. Except for my PS2s. But I have had numerous HDDs and flash drives get corrupted and many that have failed completely. Pick your poison I guess.

Digital Foundry Halo 5 4k analysis.
Pretty much mimics my prior statements about vastly improved clarity but still let down by short draw distances on some objects and shadowing earlier in the thread.
Game is still limited by the Xbox One in a multitude of areas, including half-rate animations, likely not solvable without a ton of work to the game.

Master Chief Collection is next.

Still waiting on a 1440P patch before I get seriously into any games, being stuck at 1080P isn't what I bought the Xbox One X for. x.x

One benefit I found with digital downloads.  If you go to someone else house and they have the same game but its on a disk, if you sign in with your profile, the disk would not be needed and it will run the game as if it was a digital download.

I fired up a few games that aren't patched to be "Xbox Enhanced". Very impressed with the results. Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen looks like I was hoping it would when I bought it. Cuphead loads faster. I'm looking forward to a day off from work to really get into it.

I can tell that I am going to quickly run out of storage space. Does running an external hard drive hurt loading times, or cause issues in gaming in 4K or Enhanced modes?
