Forums - Microsoft Discussion - There may be some unhappy XBO X owners on Tuesday

Don't own Xbox. That said, anything closing on 80 gigs, updates included is far too much unless it's an MMO and the space is reserved for future use. Doom is one game I can't play again because the DL file has gone more bonkers than it was at release. I'm not pressed for space at 2.5 tb but 110gb is friggin ridiculous never mind 170. I feel for you Xbox owners. smh.

If I remember correctly it's 13 GB on Switch for the single-player campaign and an additional 9 GB if you want to download the multiplayer. What makes it so much bigger on PS4? Better graphics is a given, but that much difference?

170GB?!? That's huge. Are there benefits for people like me that have the S, and a 1080p TV? Or is there no difference?

If you talk about patch, then no. It doesn’t have improvements for original Xbox one of One s. The worst thing is that it is seems from what I’ve seen in the reddit discussion that in case of QB you can’t ignore this patch on One s. In order to play game you need to update it with this enormous patch which doesn’t make any sense. Most of games have the option to only download patches for one x consoles, not forcing it to One s users. Seems that Xbox One x enhancement was handled bad by remedy.

So I have an Xbox One S and an 8TB HDD (humble brag) and I'm upgrading to an Xbox One X next week. There an option to update games early in the settings. A few of my games have already updated via random downloads. Probably one per day. These aren't small updates, though!

Quantum Break now tops 100gb and that doesn't even include the 70 something GB for the TV show. Just now, Halo 5 started a 15GB just update that'll push it near 110GB when all is said and done. Gears 4 tops 100GB and Titanfall just jumped to almost 70GB yesterday!

Like I said, I have 8TB and I know about the settings. There's going to be some gamers with 1TB internal (which will probably be more like less than 800gb usable for games). AND they're going to have to download a fuck ton of updates on day one.

I foresee a lot of unhappy gamers--at least on that first day or two.

I have a 500GB Xbox One S and I never run into any issues because for one thing, I always buy physical. For two? I install a game, beat the game, delete the game and install the next game I am going to play. I never get below 60%, even with all my Xbox 360 games installed.

People with 1TB shouldn't have a problem at all. The only reason it would become a problem is due to laziness and wanting everything installed all at once.

I do the same but the issue is for games you keep as buy them due to their longevity. Games like destiny, overwatch, Fifa, Forza, GT etc. That's when you are in the shits if you only have 1TB.

Gotta make room for those high-def textures. Gameplay isn't fun otherwise.

Well if the hype X1X for high quality visuals, maybe it needs to offer exceptional textures.

That the problem with the PS4 Pro, better resolution with identical assets.

100gb for a game is just utterly ridiculous.

For games Gears 4, Halo 5, Halo:MCC, and Forza titles, I kinda understand it. Those are games with tons of content.

But Quantum Break is a short campaign and no other content. The FMVs aren't even included in that 100GB. While the game looks above average the assets aren't mindblowing. I don't understand why that game is so big.

So same games may exceed the internal storage?

Microsoft really should really have someone to tell them when it is a good thing to copy Nintendo and when not.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

How does Quantum Break take that much space? According to Steam it takes up 70GB on my PC...

And some people here are expecting a portable PS4 or even PS5 lol. Not going to happen with those file sizes.

Wow, I didn't even think of that. You ended that discussion right there lol.

While I don't believe in a portable PS4 regardless, it's not because of memory limitations. We have 256 Gb microSD cards and 512 Gb SD cards. They cost a shittonne currently, but space isn't a problem, and they will drop in price as time goes on.

That's not true at all. There is a patch, even for the non Xbox One X version (40GB in size) but it doesn't make the game much if any bigger. Total game size on Xbox One and Xbox One S is 47.5GB (TV episodes not included).

Anything more than 40GB scares me

I wish these things were a lot cheaper, then we'd have some progress!!

We have these today, and they are really small.
Though they are expensive too.
