Seems like switch and ps4 go hand in hand. Ps4 price cut wont effect the switch at least not by too much.

Its still early ps4 might shoot up to number 1-3 during the day

PS4 is now at 5. The question is: does the new model enable Sony to sell at this price but still retain decent hardware profit?

Even if this doesnt include a game i bet its small but as long as it pushes alot more software and in comparison steal some thunder from microsofts consoles i think sony will ve happy. Especially considering sony gets so much money from psn cards which 99% of new owners buy. Aka each console sold still probably nets sony $60-$100 each.

Itll rise up to top 3 soon. Its 7am where i live (est). Maybe even first for awhile. Looks like hdz is $20 again

1: Employ someone to head the division who is online centric
2: Refuse to allow crossplay so that anyone who want to play with a friend must buy a PS4

I'd say you're right.

The PS5 Exists.

the switch's final hour in front... for now!
great to see that neither SKU's for the switch have actually dropped (excluding it moving down by one due to being overtaken by ps4). hopefully it shows that both can be extremely succesful :)

PS4 is going to have to remain right up there for the rest of the month to even have a chance of being competitive

Man,how many years since playstation and nintendo had a good fight.Obviously they have different demographics,so they're not direct rivals(that's microsoft job)but still.Good vibes from this situation.

This is the problem with Amazon, we just don't know what happened in the previous weeks, perhaps for example (example data)...

Week 1: Ps4 sold 30k, and Switch 40k

Week 2: Ps4 sold 30k, and switch 40k

That means switch is leading by 20k. Doing well at that point if the month was going as normal, but this is November and Black Friday month.....Then discount and black Friday comes in and we saw this with other products (like the pro) which didn't get the discount last year, it didn't push much (people want deals).

Week 3: PS4 sells 90k, and switch sells 40k

Suddenly PS4 is leading by 30k.... its all hypothetical, but you get the point, if the gap isn't that big at the moment, this week and Black Friday make up a lot of the sales for the month, can all change quite easily (especially as the numbers for this month are a lot higher than the numbers I quoted above).

If Nintendo cannot discount their product much as its the first year, then it will have a less of an impact this week. The same will be said for XB1X, which is why in the UK and I am sure in the USA the XBs is getting the major discounts. XB1s is 220 with Battlefront.

That's a good thing to remember, especially for a comparison between one sku on each side. But there are multiple skus, and we know that two Switch skus and however many Xbox skus were above PS4 so far this month, which complicates things even more, because the gap must be at least 2:1 or 3:1 or whatever,

It can all change through the next week or so of course like you said. But I'm pretty sure PS4 has a ton of catching up to do on this occasion

But we don't know what the gap is between the places - it could be a few hundred, could be a few thousand. I know this thread is about amazon, but I'm talking if you look at NPD, what we've seen so far is that the PS4 hasn't been that far from Nintendo in the last couple of months, but hasn't really figured that well on the Amazon charts.

It doesn't take a lot to get up in the amazon charts, to stay there you have to be consistent.. of course as we move towards Christmas it requires a higher base level to be consistent. But we're not talking the same levels that happen in BF week. I've had products on amazon and you can move up hundreds of spots by just selling 1 copy, getting in the top 100, you are selling tens of items an hour. As I say, getting towards the final weeks before Xmas the scale goes up. So it may be that in the last month on amazon, the gap say is 5K, but if BF does 10K in sales, it doesn't matter.

On the Xbox I was expecting the xbox to figure higher to begin with, but now the sales are starting, it should level out (though xbox have the benefit of all that XB1X pre-order goodness), but last year showed how much BF meant, XBOX had amazing deals last year and Sony didn't really try, and xbox was really close. I expect we'll see a similar battle between the two this year, the difference being is that Sony are at least trying this year in the USA, and I expect a lot of sales at 199.

I have no idea how this is going to pan out, but I thought Sony would nail it last year with the Pro and PS4, but they didn't really do a lot with sales, and XBOX had a really good/close chance (which surprised me) and that said it all, sales and deals are all that matter in the month of November. I'm not saying the switch will do bad, but if they don't discount much, then expect the XBX and PS4 cheap editions to sell much more.
