Games and hardware are hardly the same thing. When manufacturing costs go down, so should the hardware itself. Hardly rocket science.

Nothing wrong with price cuts on games either, but when major price cuts happen a month or two after launch it's not very healthy for the gaming industry in the long term (because they will try to make up the lost revenue in other ways like loot boxes and micro-transactions).

If a game sold enough that it covered the development cost and then some, its price could and should be lowered, specially if the game is old.

If a game receives a “major price cut” so close to the release, that because it flopped and that is an entirely different scenario.

Nope, many popular games out there that got price cuts soon after launch.

What do you call Price Cut? A game that went from 59.99 to 54.99? Give me some examples.

It’s been established already that PS+ accounts for a very small portion of the revenue. And you realise that it’s actually the other way round, right? People get PS+ because they care about PSN.

PS+ subscriptions would drop like a rock if Sony didn't lock multiplayer behind a paywall (I meant to say PS+ instead of PSN).

That's the only thing the vast majority of subscribers care about.

The PSN revenue comes from people buying games digitally. It would be pretty bad if taking a 30% cut on the output of the entire third party game industry didn't make a lot of revenue. People need to stop acting like it's just Sony being responsible for all that revenue. After all, I'm sure Apple makes more money off of their online shop than Nintendo + Sony and Microsoft's gaming division combined.

That’s debatable. PS+ is a great service. Me and my brother hardly play online but PS+ is great value if you consider the deals and free games one gets with it! Especially if you get it at a discount. Of course it also enforces people to buy online, which probably is the main motivation for Sony even offering it with such great deals, but we do that anyway because we share our games via account sharing.

All most popular console of their generation have sales drops in their 5th year.

All the more reason not to be surprised by how well it is selling then.

You mean surprised?

PS Plus is a great service IMO.

I dont play online and i have it, the sales and free games are worth the money, specially because i choose to renew on this months when the prices drop a lot.

40$ a year is nothing for what they offer.

Also, if it wasnt for the PS Plus and their initial proposal of offering free games, maybe the XBL service would not include free games like they do now.

I would like to see what is going to offer Nintendo for their new paid service, because most of the complains that i see here comes from Nintendo users. Will they raise their voice against the service like they do with PS+ and XBL? Or are they going silent?

LOL what?

The PS4 has been dominating since Day Numero Uno.

I think the moment belongs to the Nintendo fanbase that came from one of the, if not THE biggest disaster in Videogame history with the Wii U.

I dont like that online is now locked behind a paywall but PS+ is a great service. I owned a PS3 for about 2-3 years and of the 20 or so games i owned, like 18 were free on PS+.

As for Nintendo fans and its online service, alot have been critical of it on this site and many have said even though they dont like the idea of it they will still pay for it because they want to play games like Mario Kart, Splatoon, etc online.
