We will see, it's definitely this or next one.

If it hits 80m by fiscal year 2017 which is march next year then it should hit 100m by fiscal year 2018 which is march 2019. It will have many megatons release in that time and price cuts to ps4 slim, pro and psvr.  I just can't see it needing to wait until holiday 2019. Ps4 is a beast and it ain't slowing down.

We dont know exatly how well PS4 will sell in FY 2018., but 2019. seems like safe bet for 100m in any case, I dont think its important if that will be in first half of 2019. or in second half of 2019. And ofcourse, PS4 will start slowing down in some point, PS4 is now exactly 4 years old console and consoles usually have their peak sales in 3., 4. or 5. year on market, so for PS4 is probably this or next year and after that will probably start slowing down.

funny how 2 years ago was meant to be it's peak. then last year before that was brought to this year. now it's moving to 2019. People underestimed the ps4 and do so until this day.

If the ps4 super slim can get down to a $150 price point then it's going to sell gangbusters, especially in poorer regions around the world. And imagine it becomes hackable? It will be insane. It could sell for years after PS5 comes out. Right up to 2024.

Has any system peaked in year 5? Also, keep in mind that the PS4 still hasn’t reached mainstream market price.

And keep in mind it still has the likes of RDR2, GTA 6, FF7, GOW, TLOU2, MHW and i'd even argue a fully fledged GT7. It's crazy to think it's sold so much ay such a high price without so many heavy hitters.

FYI Sony stock up 15%. I assume primarily driven by the increase in the operating income forecast.

I think they will hit around 95M by the end of FY2019 and 105M by the end of FY2020.

Naaaa.... I think you may be off.

FY2017 ends: March 2018. FY2018 ends march 2019 and FY2019 ends march 2020.

There are two quaters to go betweennow and the end of the FY2017 in march next year. typically, in Q3 sony ships around 8M-9M consoles. If this year is tracking above last year it could be more than that, buts lets leave it at 9M (last Q3 it shipped 9.7M). So if it does 9M this quater and 4M in Q4 2017 thats 13M by the end of FY2017. Putting them at 80M shipped total.

Now even if sales in 2018 tank.... and say it drops from shipments of around 20M to say 16M for the FY2018 that still puts total shipments to around 96M by march 2019. By its second quater in FY2019 it should have passed 100M. Long before xmas.

Mind you, this is all lowballing it to hell and back, cause this ignores whatever lineup they may have next year or the fact that starting from this fall the PS4 may very will be starting at $199 for the entirety of next year.

I dont see how second year on market can be peak when usualy its 3. or 4. year on market for consoles.

Even with lower price slowing is certain, PS3 wasn't hacked (only Fat model) so chances for PS4 to be hacked are much lower. So no, PS4 will not be onother PS2.

Ps4 is still 300 though,  only 100 pricecut  in 4 years.

Ps3 went quickly  from 600 to 300 and  lowest  it ever got here whas 190.

Ps4  @150 is a certainty.

Also ps3 never  got this massive  support  and  phenomenal first party  games.h

PS4 is selling almost everywhere below official price point for quite time now, you very often have deals even for $250 for bundle (for instance you curently have PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB Limited Edition Console - Call of Duty WWII Bundle for $300), I bought my PS4 Slim for $250 last year.

Of Course that PS3 went from 600 to 300 when did not sell good with huge price point.

I dont see point of comparison of PS3 and PS4, also PS3 had very long life.

Maybe he didn't want to admit his mistake.

Who knows. Some times you get a lot of replies in various threads so it's easy to some times forget to check the blue notifications before they vanish out of your sight.
I did however not see a new estimate from him since then, but one of the comments in this thread seems to suggest that he might have one. Not sure. But if so I wonder what made him change his mind.

I don't think PS4 has performed in any really surprisingly unexpected way in the past few years, other than that 2017 became a bit better than what people commonly anticipated in 2016. But that's not enough to jump from a 90M estimate to 110m+ or whatever he may think now.

Well yes he can have missed the notification.

Well PS4 have upsold their initial year prediction on every single year, and had revised the forecast up almost every year and only once of those up revision wasn't beat on the year end, and for little.... they weren't totally smashed revisions, but it was consistent.

Sorry but the numbers we have had up to PS360 gen the peak used to be 2nd year or at most 3rd year.. 4, 5 or 6 only happened with PS3 and X360 because of sony initial mistakes and time took to release slim and good price for one side and Kinect plus price for the other... PS4 getting it with almost no pricecut is new.
