So the gaming division has had a huge increase in profit from Q2 last year and Sony now expects 79M to be shipped by the 31st of March 2018 which is 19M for the fiscal year.

4.2M in quarter means that this is the PS4’s best Q2 so far. It also is the PS4’s best H1 (7.5M) and best PS4 sales from Jan-Sep (10.4M).

The gaming division is showing an operating income of $485M for Q2, which represents a 188% increase from Q2 2016. Around $641M for H1.

$641m Operating Profit for the first 6 months??? Last year was $1.1 Billion, the best since 1998, looks like it's going to be even higher this year.

79m shipped by march too, good news.

The forecast is an operating income of $1.6B for the gaming division this fiscal year.

IIRC there were some people here who still thought PS4 wouldn't hit 100 million lifetime as recently as May. Sales would have to drop like a rock for that to happen at this point.

If you dig around a bit I'm sure you'll find at least one person on here who still thinks it won't outsell the Wii.

And it continues!

PlayStation is doing awesome right now. It is so exciting seeing so much money being made, while we continue to get new I.P., innovative new hardware, and industry changing services like PlayStation Vue. Sony has always done an exceptional job reinvesting, and taking chances. I hope part of this success leads to another try at the Portable space and a real PlayStation Phone. Looking at Xperia again, it just keeps getting worse. Kill the trash, and let the PlayStation expereince grow!

I still think they are low balling with that 19 million figure. With Gran Turismo Sport coming out this quarter, and God of War most likely coming around late February or March, I don't see any reason for them not to match or exceed the 20M units they sold in FY2016.

Wish we had more in depth look at software and services numbers. Would really like to see how much is being made on PSN, and how many subscribers they have on PS Vue.

I can do one better. Predict When will PS4 Outsell Wii

Only 4 months ago people saying PS4 would never outsell the Wii, and probably a lot who said that still believe it now.

Nice, so PS4 will probably hit 100m at end of 2019. I wonder if this is PS4 peak year in sales.
