Forums - Website Topics - VGCHARTZ ad revenue?

I dunno, but the new ad over my left bar for the topics is pretty stupid and also it have the top bar that all the time that show when I'm just to click something and end up clicking the ad.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

How accurate is that?

that is uhmmm intense!

but yeah even in half the worth is huge..... and who owns the website nowadays anyways?

I wouldn't say its accurate at all, but I think its decent to estimate the magnitude of revenues we talking about. It is not like this is a tiny site, and their are certainly plenty of ads. And also some companies like SE pay or used to pay ioi for the sales data, and that is why we see FF or KH ads at the bottom of every page.

should the revenue let say be around your estimate... don't you think people with responsibilites should have a piece of the pie? i mean..... hey they kinda keep the site in track?

$3 and some change

Less than everyone thinks I imagine. Brett's told me fairly recently that the site runs at around break even when all costs are taken into account, because of how much ad revenue has declined for gaming sites in recent years.

I would be willing to turn adblock off for the website if it wasn't infested with ads. I'm sure a lot of people face the same issue, and would be willing to do the same if it was fixed.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

What surprises me about Brett is his lack of interest in trying to fix that probably. All site face this issue but they have methods to work around this. Like seriously I don't know how there isn't a amazon affiliate link at every game in the database. Sites have fixed this through new and different methods of advertisements and ways to monetize there audiences. He has never adapted and doesn't seem to care anymore. Break even is enough I guess.

He did have a solution with Vgchartz pro. What Machina references is only ads and site sustainability, but the site also produced clients paying big $$$ like SE and Sony. Apparently 12 clients with the minimum of $4000 a year, which is $48,000 a year of almost pure profit. But I bet some pay the 20k tier, and if all did that would be $240,000 a year, but not likely.

IMHO, best way to drop the ads is supproter program at http://www.vgchartz.com/supporters.php

Of course adblock is moot if you did that, as you then get no ads anyways...

No clue, but if I were to guess 200k+ up to absolute max 1m a year in revenue. Then you take out all the expenses of course.

I doubt it comes anywhere close to that.

I don't. A few pictures of ioi I've seen he's been standing next to his very own Ferrari parked outside his very nice house.
