Gamestop is stuck in the past. Renting physical games? What year is this?

I use Redbox regularly for games. If youre a person that does long game sessions you could play through most games for just a few bucks.

Recently I played through MvC Infinity because of Redbox.

However, my issue with Gamestop's service is they likely wont have new releases. I would have been interested in this years ago. But Gamestop was doing better years ago.

If games can be bought physically, why can't they be rented in the same way?

I recently bought (very cheaply) gears of war 1-3 used from gamestop, and finished each in two sessions, playing with a friend locally. God damn would I be dreading having spent $60 on each if that were the case.

Having spent for example $6 in rentals for each would be perfectly fine. Sure, there is multiplayer, but meh. Lots of games don't offer $60 worth.

You could have gotten Gears 1-3 and over 100 other games for $9.99 with Xbox Game Pass.

The "and you own the last game" is interesting.

For the first 5 and 3/4 you just constantly switch out used games, for other used games.
Then at the last week you simply try it for the "newest" used game.

Getting infinite amount of used games for 6 months ending on getting a $40 or $50 used game that you get to keep is quite interesting.

This one raised by eyebrow, too. I wonder if there's a limit to which games you can rent. Otherwise my last game will always be whatever $60 game came out that week!

Haha, that explains the funny prices I paid for each.

...1 euro for gears 1, 2 euros for gears 2... and I will let you guess the last one.

I am not too up-to-date on things pertaining to XBL/Microsoft.

edit: Having checked the conditions, it is not of much use to me - I am a X360 owner only

Time to become a man and get an xbox one.

OT: I wouldn't mind this deal, but I do prefer digital and don't like how gamestop retires a lot of games. However, getting the newer games sounds like a great deal. Maybe xbox game pass will start to get more newer games. Competition is great!

So... you trade your used games for other ones? Does it have to match with the price worth of the game you're trading with? How does this work?

I can't say for certain, but I assume you can trade any used game you got from Gamestop in for any used game in their store, with no limits on price. There may be a limit on the value of the last game you get to keep at the end of the 6 month period though, we'll have to wait and see.

If that's the case, it may not be that bad of a deal. It would be a way to play through a lot of games for a cheap price.
