Most nations would try to do the same actually, maybe in smarter way, but the same.

The problem is that they are a very old nation, annexed to Spain, who had to endure some of the most shameful treatment ever given to a people, namely a prohibition of even speaking their language. They are tired of Madrid's bulls**t and lack of respect, and are tired of being bossed around by a government they don't see as their own, and a king which they heartily despise.

I can't honestly understand what is the problem about a people choosing to self determine their future...

Small micro countries are a problem. They want all the independence but cannot sustain themselves alone, so the first thing they're gonna do after independence is running around and asking bigger countries for aid. That's why bigger countries exist. Seperate country means separate government, rules, issues etc. That means more resources are eaten away for silly burocracy and issues that could be more effectively tackled in a bigger national context.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too just because you don't like your government. The world is better off with as few countries as possible.

There are of course some exceptions where people are actually oppressed and abused by a fascist government. Catalonia is not such a case.

Those people are not deciding "their own future". They're deciding the future of a whole strip of land that not only affects all people living there but everyone else who is dependent on that land as well. If they were deciding their own future they would just move away.

And who are you, or me, to decide what is the minimum size acceptable for a people to determine their own future?

And believe me, Catalunya can definately sustain themselves, thats the main reason Spain cannot afford to lose them, their GDP would freefall...

Like I said before, my country went through the same process and on the 1st of December 1640 we maanged to get rid of the Spanish king once and for all, after 60 years of stealing, and leeching our country and our colonies.

You need to stop and think that for some people, honor and pride is above money... I know thats hard to understand this days where we are all numbers... maybe one of this days we start to see guillotines on the streets again!

Yes and for those people honor and pride is not only above money but also above other people's lives. Where is the honor in destroying whole countries? Honor and heritage is fucking bullshit. It leads to fucking nationalism and that has never helped anyone.

They might as well go to war then if honor is that important to them. They have the right to throw away their own lives and not everyone elses.

Honor and pride is the worst thing to base decisions on because it's the most removed from rational thought.

1600 years ago is a different context than now. We live in a world that's about breaking borders, equality and freedom.

When people ask me where I am from, I say European, it's a feeling you get when you live abroad. Every country, every region has their pros and cons. There is no better or worse place. Just accept where you are and work together for a brighter future.

For example, I would love if Portugal and Spain united to make the Iberian country, but people like Tryklon would hate that due to history. Don't be full of hate and resentment and just look into the future.
