Forums - Politics Discussion - Catalonia declares independence. Puigdemont free to roam Belgium.

Who do you support?

Spain 139 59.40%

Catalonia 95 40.60%

Total:234

The only chance Catalonia has now is to restore the Crown of Aragon and take over it's rightful clay in the Mediterranean and southern Italy. They made the wrong move with a republic here, you can't put a crown on a president!

I expect the EU to support a clear display of freedom of choice.

The Spanish constitution was obviously dictatorial in this aspect.

Effin castellans better stop the abuse. Learn that people don't want to be forced into your phony union.

You honestly believe Catalonia doesn't want to be part of the EU?! The only thing they want is not needing to help out the rest of the poorer country.

Spain is not gonna want to give up Catalonia. It is one of their most economically successful subdivision and is the 2nd most populous of the country. Spain would be weak as shit without them.

That is clearly dictatorial behaviour.

It's irrelevant what they want. What is relevant is what catalunyans want.

They acted against the law and constitution. A large part of Catalonians doesn't even support the cause.

I don't support the draconian measures the spanish government is taking, they will only reach the opposite that way, but it is not that easy to just grant a part of Catalans a "fake" independence that has been reached on an unofficial way. Both parties act highly unreasonably in the cause.

Pfft, it's the Catalanoaragonese Crown according to the Catalonian independentists who are rewriting Catalonia's history, you Spanish imperialist.

I apologise for my ignorance, perhaps we can come to a compromise such as the United Crown of Catalonia, Aragon and Valencia with Rightful Catalan Dominion over Sicily, the Balaric Islands, Malta, Sardinia, Corsica and the Kingdom of Naples. Pretty long name so we will call it Catalonia for short.

Good luck to any Catalonians here in your endeavors toward independence, and I hope for it to be peaceful!

Last inform of Metroscopia says this

19% of Catalans wants Catalonia to be Spain just like now
29% wants independence for Catalonia
46% Wants catalonia to be part of Spain BUT with new benefits and exclusive competences

So yeah, Spain should let catalonia leave because 1/3 of its population wants to go, looks legit lol

International recognition seems to be going well

Red = states not recognizing Catalonia is independent, instead recognizing it as part of Spain
Green = states recognizing Catalonia as independent

Lmao, they live in an imaginary country now

And only 20-30% of Catalonia "believes" in it.

Majority dont even want independence, or to be free from spain.

I think that should respect the wishes of the people of Catalonia but I don't see this really going in favor of Catalonia unless it has a sizable military of it's own or have a country with a big military backing them.

If the majority of Catalonia wanted it that way.... yeah I could understand that.

But this is actually just like 20% of catalonia that wants independence.
