Forums - PC Discussion - Destiny 2 gripes

I am currently at level 18.

So the story: the game has no narrative ambition.
Although I have issues with Nier: Automata’s story it at least had: goals, aspirations.
Destiny 2’s story has no pulse, it is sorta just there.
If the goal of Destiny 2’s story was to make people complain about there being too much of it, I guess they have succeeded.
There is too much story, in Destiny 2.

It is almost hard to believe that someone got paid to write the dialogue; it is that bad.
Though I guess it gave me something to laugh at with my friend: just, not in a way that reflects well on the game.

Destiny 2 does not give me enough reason to care about my weapons.
This is an issue, I feel this game shares with BotW.
No single weapon in this game seems to make me care about it, as I know I am just going to throw it out shortly after getting it.
I seem to be unable to customise my guns to the way I see fit; like I can in the co-op shooter: Payday 2 (My co-op shooter of choice).
I guess, I will have to wait until Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to care about my weapons.

I don’t care about the worlds, and all the environments seem hollow.
The worlds just, don’t exert any life, it is almost like the developers treat the environment as an enemy delivery system; I find that very off putting.

Destiny 2 does not seem to be able to make me care about it, or it’s universe.
The game does not inspire me to dig deeper into its systems to build the ultimate guardian.
I don’t seem to be able to evolve my character in any meaningful way, so it all feels kind of pointless.
Grinding I can handle, when it is contextualised properly.
I don’t just want power, I want to care; I want a reason to care.
I am having a form of fun though.

Destiny 2 will not replace Payday 2 as my go-to PC shooter.

Around the Network

Super Mario Odyssey tells a more compelling story in its first 5 minutes.
I have a reason to: run, jump and fight, and they did so in one tenth of the time Destiny 2 took.

Sounds just like the original.

Also not being able to use MSAA really sucks.
SMAA is not enough to remove the jagged edges, even at 4k.

The Angry Joe review was enough to convince me not to buy, for now at least.

Personally I recommend Payday 2 over Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 looks and runs better, but Payday 2 is a better game.

From what I have played of Destiny 2 so far.

So the same as Destiny 1 then. Glad I passed.

Yeah. Quite a lot of people did going by the FW sales. It will sell well during the holidays regardless. I doubt it will hit the figures of the first though.

I'm really beginning to struggle as to why they left MS in the first place. I remember the "reason" as being a long the lines of, "we want to do something new, fresh and creative" yet here they are pumping out a generic shooter. Expansion after expansion, if you can even call them that and now a sequel that only marginally builds opon the first.

Have you snagged any legendary or exotic weapons yet? They may change your opinion until you fill up every slot with one or the other like every other player has to to reach level cap...

I have reached the level cap now.
I think I have a few Legendary weapons, but none in the type I want.

If a weapon is not a scout rifle I am not interested, and the swords suck.

A precision weapon? Not a spray and pray AR?

Heresy.
