Updated to include a few more known games, physical releases of indie games, 2019 and TBD releases, and games from Nintendo's E3 reel.

EDIT: The combination of Super Mario Party, Star Link and Just Dance in October could provide a decent boost, especially if Nintendo start some bundles and promotions. I'm surprised they're leaving Pokemon and Smash so late in the day - I thought they'd want one of them out earlier to maximise sales. Be interesting to see how things go.

Fallout Shelter, De Blob and Lego The Incredibles are June games also, YS VIII, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Sonic Mania Plus are July games, Okami HD is August game, games like Disgaea 1 Remake, The World Ends with You, MotoGP 18, Firewatch, Titan Quest...are also 2018. games.

This curently looks like solid lineup, and I am sure later in year we will have some other 2018. announcements like we had last year, when games like Doom, LA Noire, RE Revelations 1/2, WWE 2K18...are all announced after E3 and released in same year, I mean even now games like Paladins and Fortnite were announced and released on same day, so we can say that we still dont know have even full July Switch lineup not to mention rest of 2018.

I'm far too addicted to this little game to be healthy.
I played it back a few years ago on iOS, they have added some interesting features since then.

Its great that they were able to keep their word. And signs are saying that 2019 will be even better

Pocky Lover Boy!

It's kind of funny how Switch's lull year is still probably going to be one of Nintendo's most interesting years since the SNES. I remember when people were complaining that 2017 had nothing, and somehow it ended up being perhaps the strongest launch year in Nintendo's history outside of the Wii -- like the Wii or not, it had a phenomenal year 1, arguably the best of any console ever released by any company, and Switch is one of the very few consoles that compares.

Not to be nit-picky with the quote, but it's hard to tell what Matsuda means when talking about "series."

Sub-series of the mainline series? Spin-off of the mainline series?

And you can make two different games that can still be part of the main series, it does not have to be necessarily linear in concept.

Let's Go is as much of a spin-off as is Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire, or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, ect. So if one considers those spin-offs, then it is.

It's a remake of Pokémon Yellow. From what I've seen, the only difference gameplay wise is instead of battling wild pokemon, you just catch them like in Pokemon Go.

Yeah the first 12 months of the Wii's life were crazy. Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Zack and Wiki, Trauma Center, Super Mario Galaxy, and Warioware Smooth Moves. Not going for graphics that gen let them drop a ton of good titles really early in the life cycle.

Then the Wii U came along, and Nintendo's production slowed to a crawl. IMO if Nintendo wants a steady stream of games for their systems, they should avoid increasing the graphics as long as they can.

It's not really that black and white.

Both Wii and Switch benefitted tremendously by being able to effectively "steal" a launch Zelda game from the previous system and then some.

Remove Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe from the Switch launch window and it obviously takes a massive hit.

Remove Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario (which was a GameCube game) from the Wii's first year and it's significantly less impressive.

Moral of the story, always have a Zelda to steal.

Or they could increase their production capacity as they have been doing.  They can't avoid the graphics race entirely, no matter what forum members think.  They have to keep advancing that side of their games as well. And Nintendo still is maintaining a higher level of productivity than Sony or MS are capable of in the same time frame.  Those two just have a ton of third party partners.

As for this year, the difference between this and, say, 2015, is that Nintendo has third party partners.  Not all of them but enough to supplement their library with quality content.  2015 they had literally no one.

Yep. Capcom, and Square Enix are bailing them out from having a year with only 1-2 good exclusives.

Why Smash gotta release so later this year? Seems like they needed more time to polish up the game as the swan song of the series.
