I am a male and I tend to choose to play as a Male but I can in a second run pick the female. The only time I couldn't play a character was in Diablo 2, the Paladin, he was black and it took me out of the experience... a black paladin. I simply don´t relate as well to black characters not that I am completely unable to play as them --- but if I have a choice I won't.

Why though?

I like females cause their body build is usually slim, which makes it better for me to handle them

I simply don't relate as much to them... just seeing a black paladin I become less willing to play as him. I think its because they are black, I have black friends, I don't hate black people but I simply do not relate to them as I do towards white people especially in games. (when I don't have any personal relationship towards one of them)

I know what some might think but I ain't racist ... I am simply telling you the truth. If a flood happens in Africa I am less concerned then if it happened closer to home. I think that most people are like that, just look at the hurricanes in America and the attention that got compared to the floodings and hurricanes in Bangladesh.

In the end its all just preference, Like the choice of who to date... you decide based on several factors and even race might be one of them and that ain't a "wrong" thing to do.   Why would race not be a factor?

That is not because of race though ... it's because of people's sense of danger. You don't feel danger when a flood happens far away from you. You also don't have nationalistic feelings towards continents(or nations far away from you).

But anyways, I appreciate you being honest and upfront. I don't think it's necessarily wrong to think that way ... but it definitely sounds weird

Also, maybe stay away from the "I have black friends" thing .... that argument is used by racists so much people might actually think you're a racist!

Your avatar will also get you some glares, but I find it hilarious.

Edit: Not so much hilarious as interesting

I think it is becuase of sense of danger and becuase of "race"(culture , language)  to some extent. I live in Sweden , Croatian , and I was more concerned with the floodings in America then the ones in Bangaldesh... ( might not be the distance in KM  but the Distance in Culture , language , race that plays a role as well)

I am well aware that some might take offense towards my view... and that saying "I have back friends is ..a tell tell of a racist statement" my friend is Indian/Srilankan. I simply don´t agree that Race should be the thing we put under the rug and ignore,  some of my political views might even be considered "racist" (immigration policies and Assimilation policies)... but I dont share the view of racism by how it is defined ... as viewing one race superior (I DO NOT VIEW IT LIKE THAT).  Race is a preference like is personality or facial apperances, just one of many things to consider.

Not selecting a charachter based on one of the many factors , in my eyes, in not much more then not select Luigi compared to Mario.

Yea , I like the Avatar I have... is it a reference to Persona? ...or something else..hue hue hue..its just playing fun with the image.

Ok

It looks more like where's waldo to me than Persona

Usually pick female because I'm male in real life. It's part of the escapism.

Plus, I find that female fighting game characters are faster then male ones. Which I prefer.

Need some Lee Chaolan in your life, my friend.

I say this and I get frustrated when Jack can do a single punch quicker than him but Jack's a robot so...

Hmm, pie.

It depends of my mood.... sometimes I play as a male character, sometimes as a female. I don´t follow any given pattern.
I´m playing FE:Fates with a female Corrin and Xenoblade Chronicles X as a female protagoinst. On Splatoon and FE:Awakening, I´m using male avatars.

I tend to play as a male around 60% and as a female around 30% (the other 10% are for weird alien-somethings).
