Depends on the game. I generally play as a male, but for example I played as FemShep in the Mass Effect series because I just preferred the way her voice actress portrayed the character.

Calls himself Victoria and has other girls on there falling for him (her). Sends them pics of a porno actress saying that’s him. He’s a pretty strange guy lol As for me, I’m probably always a guy in the games I play. Unless there’s no other option like say, bayonetta for instance. |
Has it crossed his mind that they might also be males pretending to be a female? That is weird.
I always pick male, with Splatoon/Splatoon 2 being the sole exceptions for whatever reason.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
I seem to recall the impetus for making the protag of Tomb Raider female was "if we gotta stare at someone's butt for hours on end, may as well make it a girl's." That line of thinking had me playing strictly female characters where possible up until a few years ago, branching back out into musclebound male territory. I think female characters generally look cooler, but having boobs might have something to do with it too. =p

Well he says he can tell they’re girls cause they use a mic. He says he’s too shy so they don’t know he’s a guy.
Overwatch is legit the only game where i choose female characters lol. Besides that for me personally, im a man and i feel better represented in game when playing a male.
Depends who has the better voice acting. In mass effect and Dragon Age that was usually a female. And I usually play as a stealth character. Whenever I play like a ducking badass with huge weapons like the hammer in Bloodborne I play as a male.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I love being the ducking badass
Depends. Usually both, and do it based on what I want to make them look like
